Think I remember Moore saying it was all they could do not to title it “Murder, My Pet!”At least that one had a cool dog in it.

"You dare place the fifth movie in the same sentence as "The Alternative Factor" as though they are comparable? It is an offense to everything I hold dear. And to hear those words used to subvert The Final Frontier. You dirty its name when you speak them!" --Judge Norah Satie, probablyHonestly, I think "Spock's Brain" is an easy target just because of its dopey title.
I mean, it's not good, but, to my mind, it's no worse than "The Alternative Factor" or "Turnabout Intruder" or the fifth movie.
And I'd rather rewatch the new puppet episode than any of those. At least, the puppets were fun -- and made me laugh out loud several times.
Memory is a funny thing. And being a kid when you watch Quark running around in drag or Neelix get his feet rubbed or Tom Paris go at infinity speed and be in all points in the universe all at one, makes it go down a lot better than it ever would if you saw it for the first time as an adult.
"Spock's Brain" is still the dumbest episode of all the series. Followed closely by "Shades of Gray" and "Series Acclimation Mil."I gotta say…after the idiotic puppet episode of SNW, I don’t wanna hear any more talk about “Spock’s Brain” being the dumbest episode of all the series.
I do wonder what the Star Trek some fans remember is, because I have a feeling it is somewhat edited from the various shows that were.

I’m confused. Was this thread title what the OP originally wrote, or has it been edited? Because it makes no sense.
And I look forward to its inevitable musical version.Honestly, I think "Spock's Brain" is an easy target just because of its dopey title.

We're Trek fans. We dont let any discussion "just end."No, that's it.
I think the point is that the discussion of the "worst episode of Star Trek" is now over.
According to the OP.

I have yet to see a musical version, but there is a live stage show. And I look forward to its inevitable musical version.
Spock's Brain is fine. Maybe it's no masterpiece, but it's hardly the worst TOS. It's not even the worst of TOS S3, as And the Children Shall Lead and Plato's Stepchildren are much much worse. And yes, I will be so bold to say those episodes, as well as TNG Home Soil are very significantly worse than Level Five Transporter Accident, which is actually very fun to watch.
I'll cop to finding "And the Children Shall Lead" very creepy and disturbing (in a good way) back in the day. And the ending, when the kids are finally forced to confront their grief over their parents' deaths, still packs a bit of a punch.

The final episode of Enterprise is much worse than Spock's Brain. All of the Trek series have had the odd “stinker” episode(s). No series is immune. TOS had “And The Children Shall Lead”. TNG had “Shades of Gray” (A clip show!!) and “Masks”. VOY had Paris and Janeway mating as lizards. ENT went to the crewmember being captured storyline a few too many times. The entire SA series is childish. Picard’s second season was terrible. STD was terrible. But never have I ever been so embarrassed to be a Trekker as I was when I saw this SNW puppet episode. This is a new low for Trek. I gotta say…after the idiotic puppet episode of SNW, I don’t wanna hear any more talk about “Spock’s Brain” being the dumbest episode of all the series.
At the risk of posting an unorthodox opinion in the wrong thread, TATV isn't the disaster everyone will make you think. It's still a very flawed episode, and probably not the best choice for a series finale, particularly when Enterprise already had a perfectly fine two part story immediately preceding TATV which could have served as a suitable finale. But if you watch it on its own without the context of it being the final episode, it's not all that bad or disappointing at all. If it had been any episode other than a series finale, I think it would be remembered as a mostly forgettable episode with a side of WTF for trying to make the audience think Frakes and Sirtis still looked the same as they did eleven years earlier and would not be hated a fraction of what it has been. The final episode of Enterprise is much worse than Spock's Brain.
