References to all the spinoffs (spoilers)

I'd like to see if we can come up with a list of references to the TV series' (other than TOS which is blatantly obvious) scattered throughout the film. Or to put it another way, references to things we've seen or heard about in TAS TNG DS9 VOY ENT but not TOS.

I'll start the list with a few that pop to mind. I'm sure there are many more:

the Cardassian drink
"Admiral Archer's Beagle"
Spock (Prime) on Romulus

Re: References to all the spinoffs (spoilers)

It was a Cardassian sunrise. This will surely give rise to discussions about when first contact with the Cardassians happened. I don't care, I got all giggly during that part.

Re: References to all the spinoffs (spoilers)

Didn't one of the hi-def stills of Kirk climbing out of the escape pod on Delta Vega show that his pack said "NCC-1701-D"?

Re: References to all the spinoffs (spoilers)

i've only watched it once but i didn't notice any Voy references.

Re: References to all the spinoffs (spoilers)

I know this doesn't really count, but did anyone else see the pre-movie commercial (Verizon, I think... one of those "turn off your cell phone" phone ads) with the guy who played Malcolm Reed?

Re: References to all the spinoffs (spoilers)

Wasn't a planet called Delta Vega in an episode of the old series? Does that count?

Yeah, isn't that where they dumped Gary Mitchell? In fact, maybe Scotty's little sidekick IS Mitchell after his god-like powers wore off.

Re: References to all the spinoffs (spoilers)

Yes, Kirk's backpack does indeed say "NCC-1701-D" on it. There was a link to the picture in another thread. There must be a whole bunch of these in the movie. I hope eventually a list comes out. I'll spend the whole day with the remote and pause button when the DVD comes out. :)

I seem to be the only one who has brought this up, but when McCoy was giving Kirk the drugs to make him appear sick, I thought I heard him refer to the drug or practice as "Phlox" something.

Re: References to all the spinoffs (spoilers)

also, there was an Admiral Komac (sp?) in TOS.

I'm ok with this since they explain that this continuation is different then the other. Who cares anyways, the movie was three thumbs up!

funny thing about that scene when they dump kirk on delta vega. it seemed
fairly close to vulcan, right? well in the original series wasnt delta vega near the edge of the galaxy?not so close to vulcan is it? i know timeline change , right?

Kirk's name in that episode was James R. Kirk, later it was established that Kirk's middle name was Tiberius.

Re: References to all the spinoffs (spoilers)

One of the transporter pads (I think the one Spock and father speak in ) is labelled 113-M, which is an allusion to Man Trap. (There's also a 116-M so it MIGHT be a coincidence).

Also, the chair of Spock's ship when you can see it past spock and kirk as they speak is the IDIC symbol: the chair is the triangle pointing to a small circle, set inside a larger one (the large window).

Somehow I doubt Nero's meddling with the timeline could have moved Vulcan or Delta Vega to a different part of the galaxy, so it being a different timeline doesn't quite explain this.

This may be something that will later be widely felt is proof the new movie doesn't even take place in an altered version of "our" Trek timeline, but rather is a separate universe all together.

Actually, the original pilot, WHERE NO MAN HAS GONE BEFORE, does NOT actually SAY Kirk's middle initial was "R". That's simply what Mitchell puts on the tombstone.

While we know the real world explanation is that nobody had come up with the "T" part yet, an in-show explanation (or at least a fandom-based one) has long been that Mitchell was just being nasty. Possibly making a reference to some nickname that Kirk didn't like.
