Night Court revival

Another Big Bang actor popped in. One of the crazy candle women, Lauren Lapkus, was in season 11 & 12 of BBT as Stuart's comic shop assistant and girlfriend. (and in one of those cosmic coincidences, we'd just watched the S11 finale of BBT the day before. Hey look! It's Stuart's GF! )
Plus, she will be reprising that role (as one of the leads) in Max's upcoming TBBT spinoff series.

Haven't had tine to tune in at all.

And one media blog that popped up on my Google feed is slamming Night Court's ratings, predicting it's cancellation .

Do we know if streaming is considered at all for renewals nowadays, as ratings aren't always the best indicator (or at least not sole, or maybe even primary )?

Same here. Thinking there's a lot on during that time slot and it gets lost in the shuffle.

I just watched four episodes in a row of the original show and I have to say, the 1984-92 series is still head and shoulders above the new one. The relaunch is my favorite current network sitcom but the difference is frequently night and day when it comes to the writing and zaniness.

I seem to have given up on the show after the first two episodes of this season evoked no more than one mild chuckle apiece from me.

On the other hand, I started rewatching the original on Prime a while back, and the first season, at least, wasn't much better than the new series, so I've been watching only occasionally.

I think it was season 3 before the defense-attorney-musical-chairs finally found the shining gold prize that was Markie Post. The original is in our dinner-time watching rotation, and we still love it.

Also, I'm bad at analogies. :)

First time posting in this thread but watching this whole time. Thought I should share that Peacock messed up. Instead of uploading last nights episode “Tension Pension” which features Roz temporarily back as a bailiff - they have unaired episode listed under that title.

I had to do double take. Thought I missed beginning of last nights episode. This is about an old assistant of Harry who comes to get his magic trick journal from Abby.

No idea if they will correct this soon. I hope so, Roz back in uniform is great. The next episode is good too

Spoilers -

Even a one time defendant from old show. Was brief but memorable character. Had to check same actor but older.

. . . deliberately trying to get herself fired in order to get a severance package on top of her retirement pension . . .
. . . was kind of preposterous even for Night Court.
Most places, I would expect that getting fired for cause would mean forfeiture of any severance benefits, and maybe even clawback of some of the retirement benefits.
It leaned rather heavily into the "Rule of Funny."

Then again Night Court is at its best when it leans into that rule.

Really? Who?

I saw mistake before I left for work. Just enough time to watch next weeks episode. I also shared this discovery on Night Court Facebook group. A member contacted Peacock. Sometime tonight they said they will update to correct episode
