I loved the callback to Reinhold being Dan's real name. Nearly forty years later and the mere mention of it still terrifies him.
That didn't work for me, because it was kind of stating the obvious. Maybe that was the joke, that Gurgs somehow thought it needed to be said even after it had become self-evident, but it was tedious as a repeated gag. Using a lineup room to show off wedding dresses was cute, but would they have a police lineup room in the courthouse?
Really liked last night ep. Everyone stepped up to the plate. Best one yet imo. Gurg was funny as hell, Abby made me laugh and Dan was good. Just nice and balanced.
Yes, Gurg was killing it this week . The sword bit was hysterical. The judge running out on a wedding 'cause she was upset was awfully unprofessional and irresponsible, though. All those people were counting on her to do her damn job. Handwaving it away and saying there just happened to be someone else in the room license to do it was a copout.
Yeah? Speaking of broken hearts - how would you feel if you were the bride about to get married and the judge/priest/whatever just walked out because they were sad? I'd be reporting her to her boss. It's her JOB. Could you get away with something like that at your job?
Sure, but that's not the point here. It's a sitcom that's focused on Abby and those who she works with. Not some one-off character who no one knows the name of.
Big big same. I still have dreams of getting married, and I have to deal with the knowledge that my mom won't be there to see it. So I got it, and it cut pretty deep. A wonderful episode. Also, I kept giggling every time Gurgs shouted "he's a stripper!"
At first, I found the March 28th episode (which I watched yesterday evening) a bit repetitive and tiresome, but it got better as it went along. Funny: I remember Selma and Flo (although not so much the early Public Defender) from the original, and I remember the oddly sensitive tradition it established of killing off characters when the actors portraying them died, but for some reason, I don't remember any roof scenes at all. And as it happens, the reveal of the reason for Abby running out in tears completely blindsided me, even though the aforementioned tradition had been invoked for Harry.
There were episodes titled "Up On The Roof" and "Get Me To The Roof On Time". A lot of episodes a long time ago, hard to remember things like that.
And Roz's life was saved by Dan as well. That roof has seen some happy moments over the past four decades.
S01E12 "Da Club" This one was great. Everyone got to participate and contribute, and it was fun. It kind of felt like the classic Night Court scenario, and the new crew handled it very well. Kurt Fuller's always fun to see, he can be the best sleaze around, and he plays it with aplomb here. I love how Abby's agenda is right out in the open: she wants fairness and justice for everyone, and how can you not love that? Of course, as far as I'm concerned, Gurgs stole the show again, just showing up and being the belle of the ball. My goodness, she looked wonderful in that dress. So, yeah, this one was fun.
That's "DA Club," according to NBC.com's listing. This was okay, but not as funny as the show has usually managed to be. It was a bit contrived how they got everyone in the cast to show up at the club. I noticed in the credits that "Captain James T. Kush" was played by an actor named James Kirkland. Coincidence, or did they change the character's name to fit the actor?
I guess I know what I'll be watching on the DVR this evening. Between getting sideswiped on my way to the office, and suffering a minor hand injury, I didn't feel like making chicken scaloppine last night, and so we went to Denny's right after Jeopardy.
