NFL Football 2009

I don't get this Colts hate.

Maybe it's over-saturation of Peyton Manning and his laser rocket arm?

Mostly the reason for the Favre hate. Not a lot of people dislike HIM, even, more a reaction to the MEDIA over-hyping him and fawning like schoolgirls over him.

And believe me, the feeling is generally mutual when it comes to Colts fans and the Patriots.

That said, I have an immense respect for Peyton Manning and the Colts organization (though I do have an intense dislike for Polian), and I've often considered what our team would be like with Manning at the helm. :)

i dont think the saints will have a chance.
the colts are not going to cough up the ball in all the fumbles the way the vikings did.

and greg williams defense has been seriously exposed since the pats game.

Ya. Peyton is a great quarterback...doesn't mean I don't hate the no chined wonder. It's the rivalry, Brady Vs. Manning, and vice versa. Im sure if I was a Colts fan, it would be the opposite. But as it stands, Brady is a god, Peyton is the little puke who I have to see all over my god damned television.

Its pure football rivalry. Ill admit that, just on the numbers, Manning is a slightly better quarterback then Brady. However, I'll take take the rings just fine.

No way!! 2 good playoff games in the same weekend? That doubles the number of good games we've had so far! The Jets put up a good first half, but the outcome was never really in doubt for me, especially once they pissed Manning off. He got angry and the game was over. Vikings/ Saints was an entertaining game, but it shouldn't have been that close. The Vikings were doing everything in their power to try to lose the game. 4 consecutive drives with fumbles? The Vikings offense did the worst thing imaginable, which was fail to protect Favre. He may be resiliant, but his body has taken a lot of abuse, and if they expected him to give a good performance, then he needed to stay protected. I thought his play started lacking when he started hobbling around and actually feeling the hits.

For the Super Bowl... I like Manning but I want to root for the Saints. The Saints weren't exactly explosive tonight, but the Colts defense is not better than the Vikings, so I feel that the Saints should be able to keep stride with the Colts and keep it a fun game.

Glad to see Favre get pounded into the turf. Wonder if he'll pull his annual "will I, won't I?" retirement act again and whether anyone will believe him either way. FOX's constant cuts to his wife looking worried got old quickly. They seem to have forgotten about all the other guys busting their asses to win and thought this was the Brett Favre Championship game.

The Superbowl should be a fun game. I'm not sure I can pick a winner yet (lord knows I failed miserably today thinking the Jets would beat the spread but ultimately lose and the Saints would kill the Vikes by more than 3 points).

I'm so happy. No more taunts from my Vikings friends. No more looking at some big ugly purple font on my St. Paul Pioneer Press each morning (along with 8 pages about Favre). No more of that stupid Skol Vikings! song (or worse yet, Prince's Purple and Gold dirge). All I have to put up with is a few days of "what went wrong" whining and it's back to hearing about the Wild's chances and the Twins' promising new season.

Something I am hearing a lot of this morning... as bad as Favre's interception, the penalty for 12 men in the huddle was also pretty damaging. It pushed the Vikings out of what could realistically be considered Longwell's kicking range.

12 men in the huddle is an unexcusable mental lapse, but in that kind of noise, you can see where the road team can get mixed up.

And who dipped the ball in butter before the game? No one could hold onto that thing!!

The odd thing to me was how the second half of Vikings/Saints seemed to be a mirror image of the first half. The first half was fun and fascinating, with plenty of excellent offense and few mistakes. The second half... it was like you said - nobody could hold on to the ball, and penalties hit at the worst of times. Plus, you had a couple of controversial, close calls. Then again, that's the magic of post-season ball. I hated to see the Vikings lose as opposed to seeing the Saints win, but that's the way it goes often enough.

Geez, Favre just got the living crap kicked out of him last night. I was torn between wanting to see the Saints finally get to a Superbowl and wanting to see a 40-year old Favre lead the Vikings to a conference victory where he could retire from the game at the pinnacle following the Superbowl, win or lose.

His final interception was painful, but I can’t understand the people that say he should have run it. The guy could barely walk let alone run. And then the cameras kept cutting back to his wife and mother watching in horror as Brett got beat like a rented mule by the Saints D.

Say what you will about Brett Favre, they guy went out like an old warrior. You’d have had to drag him off the field of battle…

They knocked out the Jets... That's why I hate them.

I only hope that the jets can keep up the good and have just as strong if not stronger showing next year.

We have pretty much everyone we need under contract, and I think we have most of our draft picks this year (we traded all but three last year...I think only one, a third-rounder, is going to Cleveland).

Now, if Mark Sanchez buys himself a gym-sized freezer to practice in, if we can get one good wideout (Cotchery and Edwards are both good number two receivers, we need a marquee pass catcher), and if we can get an upgrade at safety, they are finally going to stop being the same old Jets.

Hell, we made it to the AFC championship without those things. Wait a year or two until we do. Rex Ryan was the right coach to hire and Mark Sanchez will keep getting better. There's hope.

Had they not gotten that penalty, chances are the interception wouldn't have happened- the Vikings most likely would have run the ball and set up a shot at a winning field goal. What makes the penalty even worse is that it came right after a time out. To take a time out and then have 12 men trot onto the field is a major mental lapse.

I've not been on the board in a few days. I'm skipping some pages so I'll just post.

Brett, come back next year. Don't think about it, just come back. You will dwell on that pass the rest of your living days if you don't. I know you were in pain and have been second guessed to just run out of bounds. Heck you could've slid or just sat down. You could've thrown it out of bounds but I'm digressing. Had your team not had 12 men on the field the dynamics of the play call that lead you into a passing situation would've been different.

I wanted a Vikings/Colts SuperBowl cause I really like both QB's and the history of winning with each. If it hadn't been for turnovers the Saints wouldn't have hardly been in that game anyway.

Saints are going to get beat by 10 in two weeks.
Go Colts!
