NFL Football 2009

So the Cowboys beat a team that was 15-6 in its last 21 games and made the playoffs last year. Romo had an amazing game..141 rating. So are they for real now?

Eh, give them a few games to keep doing it... lest we forget that this is still the same team that tried their damnedest to give one to the Chiefs their last game. ;)

Sloppy, yes..but also piled up 500 yards of offense.

When you consider Romo's track-record, you won't be able to tell if the Cowboys are for real until he doesn't choke in the playoffs.

I don't blame Romo, it was a team effort. His stats individually are as good as any in the league..top rated QB of the last 3 years.

a dumb football-related thing to complain about, but anyone noticing the Gillette ads that show up here eventually? Specifically the football one, showing Matt Ryan of Atlanta going up against #54 of the Patriots?

Ryan started last year, but the Pats didn't play the Falcons that year. Bruschi retired before this year started, so the big flash-animation ad that shows up never happened, and those two guys weren't even ever on the same field. It would be like Mean Joe Green tackling Peyton Manning (as much as that thought makes me happy... ;) )

I wouldn't worry about it. The Pats did more to him a few weeks back than a substandard razor could ever do.

Can we arrange for Mean Joe to flatten Manning at say 8:13 PM 2 weeks from this coming Sunday.

Oh, not worried, just one of those nitpick things that annoys me because it pops up almost every time I'm here lately. If they had picked someone else, works just fine, but those two just never played on the same field ;)

The game I'm psyched up for is the Packers-Vikings matchup, but for the early game, I'll probably watch the Lions-Rams. I guess it's morbid curiosity, but I'm kind of looking forward to that one.

Got a kick out of the official Vikings website reporting that former Viking Orlando Thomas had died. Rather embarrassing since it turned out he was still alive. Before they could correct it, several radio and tv stations as well as both the Minneapolis and St. Paul papers had picked up the story. Big oops.

NFL TV rules which don't allow Fox to air their doubleheader here because the Chargers are at home are screwing me out of the ability to watch Favre Bowl II in the comfort of my own living room :(

Oh well, at least in my $20 entry fantasy league, my team, "The Gay Sailors", is back in first place (to stay!)

The only interest I have is to see Favre lose in similar vintage Favre fashion as their game against the Steelers.

And to shut the incessant Favre ball washing from commentators.

So I'll be rooting for the Packers...

I'm really looking forward to the Lions game this week. I expect a high scoring affair, since neither team plays much defense. The Lions are at home, but the oddsmakers don't even have them as favorites.
