NFL Football 2009

Leave it to the Rams' defense to turn an interception into a safety.

Good Lord!

Yeah, this has been an unpleasant game to watch. The Lions offense has done jack in this game, and the receivers dropping everything thrown their way isn't helping.

I didn't see the game, but according to the reports, the Dolphins picked up two touchdowns off of kick-off returns for a total of 201 yards. I'm Dolphins fan, but I'd say the Jet's special teams aren't overly special this week.

Well, Denver finally lost. It was a hard fought game by both sides, unfortunately Baltimore was able to bully Denver's offense a lot more than we were able to do to them. It was disapppointing, but there's not too much to be angry about. Some things I noted:
~Denver threw passes into their own backfield too many times, and it never worked. With one or two exceptions, every single back-field pass resulted in 0 yards or less.
~They didn't run enough. Up until his last couple carries, Moreno was averaging 5 yards a carry. By the end, he was still doing 3.9 ypc.
~That first offensive TD should not have happened. It's bad enough that Dumervil jumped and turned 3rd and 12 into 3rd and 7. But how the hell do you do it a second time and turn that 3rd and 7 into 3rd and 2?!? That was just sloppy play by him.
~Denver never stretches the field, and that makes them that much easier to push around simply because it's that much less field that the defense has to really worry about. I know it's not Orton's area, but they really were doing better when they were trying to go for more yards than usual.

As I said before, it was a very hard-fought game. Unfortunately, Denver's not an offense that scores many points at all, so they were easy picken's for a Defense like this. I still feel that Denver's defense did a pretty good job. We'll get to see this coming monday if they can bounce back.

EDIT- ~One other thing to list of my things to note about the game... Royal's returns today. He was trying too hard to make something happen. He spent too much time running the wrong direction or stopping. Just take the freaking ball and run. I think he cost a lot of return yards trying to create opportunities.

Not a Vikings fan at all, but them winning today will give some of those Packers fans exactly what they deserve.

Bulger, you can get fucked.

That No. 1 pick next year can get you a QB. You already have the LT to protect him.

Texans kicked that Buffalo BUTT!!! :techman::techman::techman: 5-3 for the first time in franchise history.

Now, it's on to Indy...a test, but not an insurmountable one...

:techman:

I'm very embarrassed that New York Giants lose the game earlier today. I had confidence in them to winning the game, but Philadelphia Eagles crush them like nothing.

Why a lot of sports fans get a bad rap as being pathetic, stupid and completely out of touch (one guess as to what the quotes refer to):

"It’s like going into church on Sunday and the priest says, 'Everybody go home, Jesus has now sided with the devil.'" -- Tom Fields

"He just goes about it like it’s not a big deal, like it’s just football. But it’s not. It’s bigger than that." -- Ross Kohlbeck

Holy Crap!!! Ted Ginn can do something well! He did great on returns. One of the highest paid KR specialists in the game.

Overall looking over the stats of the game (no airing here) it was fairly a crapfest for the Dolphins passing and running game. Without Ginn's returns we would have lost.

I'm not sure but looking at clips of Eli throwing in this game it seems as if that foot problem is affecting his delivery on his throws.

Really? I hadn't notice that Eli was having a foot problem that affecting his delivery on his throws today, but I was totally busy with something and didn't realized how painful for him to suffering that foot problem.

This just in:
TENNESSEE TITANS BREAK LOSING STREAK BY BEATING JACKSONVILLE JAGS!!!

Titans: 1-6

I now return you to discussion of better teams.

Damn, my wife and I pick 4-5 games a week as a friendly bet. Straight win or lose, no point spread silliness. I went 0-4 yesterday and could lose tonight if Atlanta pulls off an upset.
