NFL Football 2009

I think it's a combination of factors, although the absolutely terrible offensive line is the biggest problem. Those assholes are just getting shoved all over the field and Forte's getting massacred. By the time he's hitting the line, any holes that may have been there for a split-second are already closed down tightly and a bunch of D-line goons are well on their way to clobbering him.

It's pretty clearly affecting his confidence, and there's also the lingering issue of that knee / hamstring injury. It'd be nice to see him return to form, but I think it's a little late for that.

Also, once again, Ron Turner, you piece of shit, you are worthy of nothing save for the high holy fuck you:

Let's examine the complaints and the realities.

The gripe: Defenses know when the Bears are passing and when they are running.

The truth: The Bears' tendency has been to go against the usual calls on first and third downs. On first-and-10, usually when most of the league hands off, the Bears have passed 59.8 percent of the time. On third-and-10, traditionally a time to throw, the Bears have run it 50 percent of the time.

Just because it's unpredictable to do so, that doesn't mean it's actually a good idea to run up the fucking gut on 3rd and 10 all the damn time. Fuck you.

The end of that Steelers/Vikings game was unreal. People were scoring all over the place. Too bad, Brett!

That was great. I was more thrilled with the Vikings loss than I was with the Packers' win against the flu-infected Browns. The Vikings fans I was watching the game with were so convinved Favre was going to pull off a victory in the final minutes that the thought of losing didn't even enter their minds until that last defensive touchdown. Watching their reaction was priceless.

Much of Chicago's defensive problems are injury related. No matter how overrated Urlacher may or may not be, he is an important part of that defense. Then you lose a second linebacker (forget the name) and Tommie Harris as well.... those types of problems add up after awhile.

Very true, but I was still surprised at how poorly their secondary played. And they have quite a few problems in other areas as well. I'm not about to count them out, but I'm not as worried about them as I once was.

We have the Game of the Year this Sunday, as the Mighty Rams travel to Detroit to take on the Lions.

I expect TV ratings to go through the roof!

I would much rather see that game than the Farve game, and I'm being quite serious about that.

You're Fourth and Short (1) on your own 41. All of the logic in the world should tell a coach to punt it not, you know, go for it and have your suck-ass team turn it over on downs and give the opponents good field position.

The play calling on the Chiefs lately has sucked, they've gone for on-side kicks when they clearly don't have the talent to recover it. They've often gone for it on 4th down, in one case when they had several yards to get for the down and they handed the ball off.

I mean seriously what are they thinking? Haley has head up his ass.

Whoever loses this game is in for a truly miserable second half of the season. It's both teams' best look at a win all year.

I was just following the Philly-Wash game online, and Philly punted on the Redskins' 36 yard line on 4th and 5. Wtf is that? How much field position is there really to be gained by punting on the opponent's 36 yard line?......

...ah, but it looks like it worked out anyway, as Campbell threw an interception which was returned for a touchdown.

If by roof you mean roof of the basement, then yes, there is that possibility. :D

It could be 49-47.

Or it could be 6-3.

Don't rule out the 2-0 barnburner.

Well, whoda thunk? The team that is a punching bag for winless teams is losing to a team with wins to its name. With that said, Philly isn't exactly looking like a great team either.... I think the only difference in this game is that Washington keeps giving the ball to Philly with a short field. Philly has had two great plays, and has otherwise struggled to get anything going.

EDIT- The commentators just mentioned that Washington's remaining schedule has a winning percentage of 67%, which is the toughest remaining schedule in the league right now. That's pretty rough luck going from the easiest schedule in the league for the first 6 weeks, getting drubbed in that, and then getting saddled with the toughest schedule for the back 9 weeks.

At least Raiders fans can rest assured that their owner will die soon. Redskins fans don't have that same luxury.

I thought Al Davis was the immortal evil.... you mean there is a chance that happiness can be returned to that part of the world?!?

:p

At least the Bears have a decent shot at winning next week against the Browns, and then against the Rams and the Lions later. All the others could easily be losses.

I didn't get to watch the Fins/Saints game, but followed it online. Imagine my surprise seeing the Fins go up against the mighty Saints followed by the expectation of the loss that was to happen.

Henne did decent actually. One pick wasn't his fault, then the pressure of the game on his shoulders towards then end hampered his overall performance. I think he will be great down the road...hopefully.

Ricky/Ronnie were phenomenal as always, until the second half when the Fins practically abandoned the run because the Saints were putting 8 in the box.

WR/TE Were overall disappointments. Brian Hartline looked good. Ted Ginn definitely did not. He is a bust, time to see what Hartline and Patrick Turner can do. Though the most dependable are Bess and Camarillo, but they don't take full advantage of Henne's arm, though neither would Turner.

Defense, where are you?

Coaching, wasn't bad really, though failure to adjust in the second half fully hampered our chances of holding on to our lead.

Blame to be placed IMO: Ted Ginn Jr. and the entire Defense (in the second half).

Time to get killed by the Jets.

What if the league put the Redskins and Raiders in an old fashioned cage match?

I believe it was closer to 4 and 2 and he Haley called a QB sneak.
