NFL 2017 Season

Maybe they can lure Rex Ryan back? :guffaw:
I can just see it now. The Colts hire Ryan and the first thing out of his mouth is his pledge to beat the Patriots.

Professionally probably a real bad decision, imagine he's toxic to most other teams now. Then again, in a couple years, maybe he gets a sniff again. But sure he's eyeing Belichick's job at that point, and knows he's in a good ownership position. He got HC money I'm sure, and gets to stay somewhere he knows and thrives in.

Plus, enjoying the anger/disappointment/angst in Indy at the moment  Mostly unrelated to the Deflategate nonsense, but I'm sure Kraft got a giggle out of sticking it to Indy just the same. Although the GM driving that issue is gone, so not as effective. Irsay went back into his pill bottle yesterday evening for sure, though.

Oh teh noes, now people might not like the Patriots as much!

Can't really change things much, most random casual fans got off the bandwagon after 2004; got sick of them. After the handwringing of spygate and deflategate, not sure many people are still looking for a reason to get off; they're either long gone or staying

Eh, this is shitty and petty. People have their livelihood invested in this. Unrelated to deflate gate. Yeah, not sure I believe that.

Pretty sure he's more afraid of failing again than trying to stick it to Indy. Although I'm sure Kraft giggled a little at the end for sticking it to Irsay. Guy that intercepted the ball and "started" the whole thing still says it was all BS and he had nothing to do with it, for what that's worth...

Mostly, sounds like Kraft and Belichick told him that Bill only has another year or two left, and Bill offered to let him behind the curtain and basically train him to take over. Not guaranteed or anything, but is getting paid like a HC and has the inside track on a solid gig, so makes some sense to stay where you've got good (not coked out) owners, stable situation, family likes it, trust in the GM, etc.

Shitty the way he did it, but sounds like Indy also jumped the gun without pen to paper as well.

Didn't exactly screw over anyone's livelihood, the guys that got hired are still employed, and doing exactly what they signed up for, just for a different HC. Probably not as stable as if they were working for who they thought, but they're not in the bread line yet.

Eh, is what it is there. Going from best QB AND best Coach of all time to literally anything else is going to be a hard fall. But this (if it pans out that he's eventually the new HC) will at least provide some continuity and hopefully soften the blow. Worst case, they only lose one coordinator this year, so have time to get someone new up to speed there before the next shoe drops...

He's like Riker.

They keep pulling out the chair but he won't sit down.

Won't take command of his own ship because he'd rather hide in the shadows of a great captain.

Star Trek Reference, Bitches!!!!!

What's the next shoe - do you think? Gronk retiring? Brady? Coach Sleeveless?

Problem is, he's toxic now. Yeah, he's got a good thing going for the time being - for as long as Kraft's alive. Kraft, like most of the other owners of the teams, looks like he's got one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. Anything can happen once he sheds the mortal coil. There is no guarantee that he'll be given top coaching position once Belichick retires/leaves. McDaniels' agent walked away, and justifiably so because he knows he can never shop him around again. McDaniels just killed his own career with this unprofessional fuckery and will wind up getting forced into early retirement before his years. People in Boston might think it's cute and good for them. The rest of the country doesn't give two rat turds in a rain-barrel what Boston thinks since Cheers went off the air.

Not super worried about Kraft, he’s got a son (Jonathan) that’s got functional brain cells, so a very stable ownership situation. Not exactly a Mark Davis setup....
