NFL 2017 Season

You know, I'm a Boston sports fan, born in 1983. So when I first became aware of sports in late 80's early 90s, Boston teams were good but not championship contenders. Then a decline, to the point where in the late 90s they were all terrible at the same time.

Then come 2001, my first year in college, the Patriots winning was the most amazing thing ever. First Boston championship in my sports aware lifetime. And then suddenly I was spoiled. All 4 Boston teams won at least once and never more than 3 years apart.

So I'm at the exact age where my earliest memories of sports are Boston teams always losing.

GO PATS! Keep winning long enough until the Celtics have Hayward next year and are the best again! Never the 15 year draught again!

Wow...what a shit show in Pittsburgh. I really hope both Tomlin and Rothlesberger retire soon.

...AND as soon as I type that they make a touchdown!

Maybe next time the Steelers should focus on the opponent in front of them and not shoot their mouths off about the Patriots. :guffaw:

Tomlin is terrible. Everyone else is so bad that it makes him look decent, but he isn't.

Onside kick was a terrible choice, bad execution or not. Even after all that, he was down by 10 with 40 seconds or so. Kick the FG right then, save the clock, then try another onside kick. At least that way, you have 30 seconds or so if you get the ball, and a chance at the end zone. Instead, they forced a TD since they were close, and had nothing (well, 1 second after they fixed it) on the clock. Literally had to not only recover the kick, but score on that play, without a single snap. Just dumb.

Wow. Back and forth and back and forth and the Vikings pull it off with no time left.

The Saints corner/safety takes out his own guy and the Saints are 1-7 in road playoff games.

Go Jaguars!!!

Also: holy hell Vikings, that was glorious! Just a great game all around.

Fun fact: 3 of the 4 remaining teams have never won a Super Bowl. If the football gods have any justice, one of them will get it.

Also: 3 of the Conference Championship quarterbacks are Case Keenum, Nick Foles, and Blake Bortles. What even is this universe.

I hope so. A team winning its first Super Bowl is a fantastic thing. They were calling Keenum a "journeyman quarterback" all game. It would be nice to see one of these three go all the way.

And, since the Saints are now out, my new cheer is "Anybody but the Patriots!"

I have so much adrenaline right now. My hands are literally shaking. I actually started to try and watch DISCO, but there's no way I can concentrate.

That Vikings game was insane.

Those Saints DB’s need to sit in the corner for a while and think about what they’ve done.

NFC Championship is a game between 2 Rams’ cast-offs.

What a world...

If the Saints had to lose to anybody I'm glad it was the Vikings who routinely shoot themselves in the football. What a great game.

Great Vikings/Saints game. Can't wait for the commentators to remind us how no one believed in either NFC QB for the entire NFC Championship game, that won't get old

Hopefully Pats don't fall into the trap the Steelers did, looking past the Jags. Offense isn't crazy, but the Defense is legit. And some big bodies they can put on Gronk. Jags are hard to figure out, had some great games, and some absolute duds. I thought they had a chance to lose to the Bills, and then they stomp the Steelers (mostly). Should be a good pair of games this weekend!

Boy talk about a breakdown in technique, the Saints' safety took a bad angle, failed to come under control, and dropped his head. He gave himself almost no chance of making what should have been a routine play. Feel bad for that kid, though. This could stay with him for the rest of his life. Hope the fans aren't too hard on him

He also knocked his own guy out of the play, the only other guy who had even a remote chance of making the tackle.

Yeah, this one’s going to leave a mark...

The fan base reactions have been mixed from fire him to he'll do better next year. He made the interception that helped shift the momentum earlier in the quarter(?), so he's not horrible. He just made a big mistake at a very critical time. I'm in the forgive him and move forward camp. Believe me, he knows exactly how badly he messed up, but he (and we) need to move on.
