New Watchmen trailer

I think it looked good but it's a trailer and those are meant to look good. The actual movie might suck horribly. With a movie like this you can't tell if it will be a great movie or a hated one just from the snippet we saw.

I think it is great. The music should be a little weird, since thew film will be a mix of alternate universe, 1985 but with our modern sensibilities. Seeing Manhattan talk was also very exciting. It did feel like the comic come to life.
I wonder if the should add that Prince song "Controversy" to the soundtrack?
"I just can't believe all the things people say...."

Did anyone else get a distinct Flash Gordon/Queen vibe from that trailer, or was it just me?

It was kind of there. I don't remember too much of Flash Gordon but the Queen theme was kind of there.

Just watched it again, it seemed to improve a bit.
The only thing is Rorschach's OTT gravelly voice, a bit like the one annoying thing in The Dark Knight

All these superheroes sounds like they've just woken up hungover from a night on 20 Marlboro Reds

Trailer not as good as the first one.

Am loving the way that Dr. Manhattan has been realized, though. They seem to have found the right amount of powerful and ethereal for the character.

I thought Rorshach's voice sounded perfect. It's exactly the type of voice I imagined while reading the comic.

Jon's voice I expected to be deeper and more ominous though.

You have to remember that these are older superheroes, they've been around the block a few times. They aren't as young or spry as they were during their prime so it's natural their voices are going to be rougher, gruffer and tired.

The ironic thing is that, to me, I expected Rorshach's voice to actually be vaguely high-pitched and whiney, an exaggerated version of what Doctor Manhattan sounds like, whilst I expected Doctor Manhattan to sound incredibly deep.

The first trailer was more exciting than this; I wonder how much of that is due to the fact that it was... first? :) The new footage was pretty cool to see, but I agree the music wasn't as good.

As for the voices... I have to say, they sound like nothing I imagined them being. Rorschach, possibly because of his name but also because of the way he phrased things, I always thought of an German or Eastern European accent. It's so weird to hear him talk "American" even though I know intellectually it shouldn't be weird at all.

Rorschach sounds about how I imagined.

James Earl Jones doing his Lion King voice is closer to how I imagined Dr. Manhattan.

Silk Spectre sounds too young.

It was okay. Nothing spectacular. The woman was really hot, though.

Honestly, I'm not all that sure if the graphic novel can at all be put into film. We'll have to see.

I imagined Rorschach sounding similar to what he sounded like in the trailers, but sounding a little more like David Hayter as Solid Snake. Dr. Manhattan's voice in my mind resembling a younger Patrick Stewart speaking in a neutral North American accent.

Perhaps I'm alone in this, but I always imagined Manhattan's voice to be a nondescript American accent with a "normal" sounding pitch. Part of what I found interesting about him is how human he seams, despite his power and appearance. I always thought there was something paradoxically unassuming about him. Besides, a being of that power really doesn't need a deep intimidating voice. Rorschach on the other hand would of course put on a deep scary voice because (among other reasons) he's over compensating for what he sees as his own shortcomings, if you'll pardon the pun.

I hope that the action-pause-action style isn't something that's actually in the movie, but only in the trailer. That style is too music video-ish.

Everything Zack Snyder has directed has looked like a music video, I expect WATCHMEN will look the same. There will be plenty of slo-mo for all.

Dawn of the Dead was hardly a music video. I expect the Slow-mo will be used mostly to emphasize certain shots that echo panels of the comic. . . as it should be.
