New StarGate series Prime Video.

That's a little disappointing, hopefully at least one of the legacy actors will be willing make the move to do it.

Oh, I totally forgot Origins even existed, since I never bothered to watch it.

You and most fans. Accidentally, or willingly.

Stargate Origins wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. It was just okay. If nothing else, it fit reasonably well into the TV continuity, which is more that can be said for the animated series.

Shoe will still be on the other foot.

Whoever they cast for an American will have to spend a significant time in London.

RDA sacrificed for awhile till he needed to be closer to his family

I think Robert Caryle found it difficult to be so far away from family too

This also means it won’t be so easy for the regular StarGate actors in Canada to visit that much

RDA was also filming SG-1 when it was 22 episodes a year (later down to 20, and Universe was also 20) and that meant filming took place over like 8 to 9 months. One of the biggest reasons why it was so hard for tv actors to film movies is because of just how much of their schedule was taken up by that tv show. Sometimes they'd try to tweak the schedule to give an actor maybe a few weeks off at the end or beginning of production of season to make a movie work.

This new series is going to probably be more like the 8-10 episode route. Which significantly reduces the time an actor would need to be staying at the location of the shooting. Also the ability to have a shorter season means the entire season will be written out and you can film actors/scenes out of sequence for episodes if needed.

Eight to ten episode streaming seasons actually take close to if not exactly as long to film as network/cable seasons of twenty-plus episodes. It's one of the factors in why the streaming bubble has burst in recent years.

I guess it depends on the show. I really doubt Amazon is going to let the show go the Rings Of Power route and take like 1 month (or more) for each individual episode.

The last couple seasons of For All Makind have complete their filming of 10 episodes in about 5 months.

I just remember a recent interview with Dick Wolfe where he was explaining the reason he prefers producing network shows over streaming shows is because they both take the same time to film, yet with network shows you get twenty or more episodes while with streaming shows there's only eight episodes.

With that in mind.

Logistically if it were an 8-10 episode season someone for example like David Hewlett could fly over and stay for a week or two to film a small cameo

(or have the cameo be on a computer monitor)

So we get British forrests as the backdrop for alien worlds...
;)
I now want to hear a new alien say: "Bring me...A SHRUBBERY!"
It was Vancouver and the surrounding areas. Mountains, rain forest, waterfront spaces and small towns all within easy driving distance. Back in 90s, The X-Files and Andromeda were also filmed there.

And countless other shows and movies.
Of course. It is a big industry there now, but in the 90s there were only a handful of science fiction and fantasy shows being produced. Back then, many shows filmed in Canada had, what I considered, a "cheap" look to them. You could always seem to be able to pick out a Canadian production as it seemed to reek of a low budget. Stargate and X-Files seemed to be the exceptions for SF&F back then.

Joe Flanigan was on GateWorld today and said Martin Gero invited him to visit the writers room this week.

That could mean anything, maybe he just wants to catch up. But still. Joe says he knows nothing, and wishes he could say that he couldn't actually say anything lol

Maybe Nicola Bryant can dust off her American accent. ;)

With decades more practice being an "American" over at Big Finish Nicola has become less grating, however, frankly Nicola may be able to do a better Job at speaking yank, but Peri is as Peri Does, her accent is locked.

Although she did a story or stories set 20 years later as Queen, so that older Peri, how she speaks may have been impounded by total immersion inside a unbelievably alien civilization. Although if you were sex buddies with Prince Vultan for decades, you may pick up some of his mannerisms too.
