That whole concept just seemed wrong headed to me. I mean what would be the point of it? It's as if the author missed that "a long time ago in a galaxy far far away" wasn't meant to be taken literally, just a signal that this whole thing is just a fairy tale, so don't overthink it!
I mean imagine having a LOTR story in which Arwen survives into modern day and has to get a job as a waitress because the woods she usually ponces about in looking all forlorn and mysterious got tarmacked over. I mean sure, there's a novelty factor I suppose if played for laughs, but it's not like it adds anything or has anything interesting to say.
