New Star Trek (2008) Poster released

Now see at first I thought the statue of liberty poster was the star trek poster

and i thought "whu"

but then i scrolled down

and there she was!

I think i'm in love all over again.
Wonder if we could combine the 1st teaser poster with the 2nd teaser poster, hum, that'd be kinda cool.

* Retro, man, retro ! *

Ring any bells?

I remember seeing a version with that part of the poster blown up I think.

I still like it though...

The 2nd teaser poster is on my desktop right now !

Sure, nothing fancy but they're even using the original font.
Which makes me hopeful they won't ruin the Enterprise.

Which would be a thing even Roddenberry couldn't manage not to do. Ah to see the 1701 as she was without the art deco "upgrade". Lets hope!

Its a grower. In fact its growing on me right now.

Does it remind anyone of the original Star wars poster?

*off to find link*

You too, huh? Yeah, I've seen a post much like this.

Get off your high horse, man. As I said, it does nothing to grab my attention. As a teaser, it's supposed to wet my appetite and GRAB MY ATTENTION. In that respect, it's a failure and that's why I said I hated it.

Fair enough, but it certainly seems to be catching the attention of plenty of others.

Which makes me hopeful they won't ruin the Enterprise.

One can dream.

I, too, would like to see the original Enterprise. No extra geegaws, no flat nacelles, no neon-glowing panels -- the only difference for the screen, perhaps, is more attention to the actual model (say, a bit of subtle aztec-ing on the surfac), but no big changes, no refitting the primary hull, no tweaking of the deflector grid, no change in the original base design.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I'm betting the Enterprise will look virtually identical to the TOS version, only more visually detailed, i.e. subtle aztec patterning, weathering, etc. Betcha.

^ I'm starting to bet that's just what will happen, to everyone who says the old ship will look dated and or bad, how do you know, as far as I know we've NEVER seen it on a movie screen before.

Airplane ][ was as close as we ever got and it was stock footage from the show, not brand new footage useing state of the art cameras, lighting CG work, ect.

So unless you have 100% proof that the old design will look bad and or dated on the BIG SCREEN don't say it will.

I like it. It has that retro star trek feeling, yet the white and the stardate looks kinda modern.

That abomination of a Sci-Fi movie poster is supposed to appeal to non Trek fans, it looks like the same image that they have been ridiculing for the last 40 fucking years.

JJ and crew better get their fucking asses to work and come up with something really original and appealing to the general population.

Its a movie poster, a teaser poster at that - and nothing about it would really turn off anyone interested in seeing a movie.

More over if it had been completely not obliviously "Star Trek" we'd hear complaints: "Its not Star Trek enough", "Why that font and not the original-they're raping my childhood"

either that, or simply abandon the project all together - that would be my preference
