New Spider-Man cartoon: Ultimate Spider-Man

It looks like it has the potential to be fun...and that they're targeting an even younger audience to me. I'm not as hyped for this as I once was. I'm still willing to give a chance though.

True, but be careful, correcting people like that is why normal folks can't stand geeks.

I think making the effort to get people's names right is a simple matter of consideration and courtesy -- something that once was regarded as normal. (Yes, it's a fictional person's name, but in that case the courtesy is to his creators.)

That was before the dark times...before the internet.

Did I just watch a clip from "Friends"?

Dark times, indeed.

If its as good as the cgi Spider-Man series. Go for it!

Good lord, that was the worst Spidey series in modern times (yes, even worse than Spider-Man Unlimited). It was all about trying to be "adult" and "edgy," but its only way of doing that was putting in more gratuitous violence and death; in terms of actual plot and characterization, it was a lot shallower than the '90s series or Spectacular. I sincerely hope this one is better than that, and I fully expect it to be, though I doubt it can top Spectacular.

The Doc Ock write up is alright. Otto has at times been in situations where his mechanical arms were his main use. The doubling of the attachment piece as an iron lung isn't too much of a stretch.

Dr. Doom - other than a few one off appearances I don't feel Doom is a character that needs or should be regularly tied to Spidey. Even if, as the write up indicates, he's a 'younger, less powerful' Doom.

Venom - as long as the connection to Oscorp reveals one of their research teams got the symbiote(that is is still a symbiote) from a military contact and it's of alien origin are part of the "connection to Oscorp" I'm fine. If the symbiote is not that then it's a fail. I know the Ultimates line did some tweaks and the comics use Oscorp as well. I was never fan enough to follow the Ultimates version of the MCU. I guess a wiki read can answer my curiosity.

In the Ultimate Universe...Venom was a suit created by Richard Parker and Eddie Brock Sr which was supposed to have regenerative abilities and ultimately be a cure for cancer. It was tailor made (literally) to a person's DNA and the person who bonded it with could exert control, if a host was incompatible though, it corrupted that host IIRC. I could easily see this being tweaked as being an OsCorp project of some kind.

Doom being in this is a little weird, but not surprising, since he appeared occasionally in early Amazing issues and has history with Spider-Man. Even more so now that they're on the FF together :)

Doc Ock working for Norman is directly taking from the Ultimate 'Verse so I have no problem with that. Also of course "Spider-Man 2" had ties between OsCorp and Otto. It seems his redesign is a little tweak of his current 616 condition...or maybe I'm off on that.

Literally? You mean the person who made it was actually a professional maker and mender of clothing?

Iron Spider-man suit will make an appearance.

Intrigued but Spider-man's voice is grating.

"Hope you survive the experience." Would've been funnier in an X-Men show (since that's their trademark cover blurb for welcoming new members), but I like the reference.

A little, yeah, but it seemed to me here that he's got a quality to his voice that reminds me of Greg Cipes's Beast Boy from Teen Titans, and I could get used to that.

I don't think Spider-Man needs a motorcycle, any more than he needs a dune buggy. Spidey's web-slinging is his own special way of getting around and it's a very fun thing to visualize and imagine. Giving him a vehicle just undermines his specialness and feels too much like a toy tie-in.

Me too. It definitely appears to be playing up the humor more than Spectacular did, but since most of it wasn't to bad I don't mind.

Okay...I take back what I said before! This looks really fun! It still seems to be targeted for a younger audience, but with the expectation that Spidey fans of all ages will tune in to watch (kind of like the Spider-Man version of Batman: Brave and the Bold). Plus Iron Spider Suit!!!
