New Picard SDCC Trailer

Is this a prison on a Borg cube?

Those look like alcoves in the back there and I *think* that is Romulan text to the right of the English.
There are red Romulan bird logos as well

All the more reason to not do it. This is taking fan service to a whole new level that is unnecessary in this show.

You’re complaining about fan service when almost everyone wants a Pike and Spock series. This series feels like one geared towards the 24th century trek fans and considering that was the time I grew up, I’m excited as heck. Bring on the Borg.

Yes, I'm complaining about fan service. I'm tired of fan service. I'm glad many are excited for this show. I am, in a way, but it's for the Romulans. The fact that the Borg are coming back disgusts me.

I'll not censor my opinion. Sorry.

Just wanna note that 5843 days without an assimilation works out to exactly 16 years. So that pretty much lets you know what likely happened:

Supernova destroys Romulus
A couple years later the Borg invade
Rescue armada battles the Borg

that’s fair. It just feels like since Enterprise season 4 Star Trek has been more fan servicey than not. I just think it’s inevitable that’s where the franchise is now. Also we are in a time of remakes and nostalgia. This is treks version.

I do agree though. I’ve always wanted more Romulans because they are severely underused, so I’m glad they are also a focus of this series.

The Supernova is a 3 after that 15 years ago.

It's filmed exactly like TNG and VOY, which is terribly flat and dated.

The way to block, film and cut a film or TV show is a stylistic choice. If I remember correctly, Berman made the choice to shoot, block and cut TNG in a style that was also used in movies for the 1940s/50s to give the show a calm and elegant appearance. They also used hairstyles of around the 1940s/50s and only classical music to avoid dating the show by referencing 1980s/90s pop culture.

I think that's part of my frustration. It's a symptom of current culture to rehash nostalgia. We are, ironically, becoming more like TNG future, in which we do not see new art being created, but rather the crew exploring Shakespeare, Beowulf, 3 Musketeers, Sherlock Holmes, etc.

We are not longer making new art. We are becoming stagnant.

That's muy frustration. Star Trek is no longer "boldly going" and that makes me sad.
