So is this site now under new control because i noticed a lot of changes lately between the way the site is run and now with the look. I also noticed a much more strict feeling where it's less of a personal connection between us trekkies, and no seems to be much less personal and to be blunt...aggressive. I have had every post I have made lately closed and had a very rude response. te firs was closed and they gave reason then linked me to the thread they said was similar wich was the general Nutrek forum, when I reposted it with the description updated to specify the article itself they said they removed the forum because they had already sent me to the forum hat was discussing that thread (they did not hey sent me to the "do you like the new movies" thread) only after I posted it again did they link me to the right thread but not before belittling me. I'm no one to talk bad about this site I loved it but recently I have had a very strong feeling of "not belonging" and I am very put off by it and honestly don't quite feel as though I fit in too well with this new format. I'm not sure if anyone else has had this experience but I do not feel as though I am wanted here which is a huge difference from the way I felt last year when I found this site. It gave me a sense of belonging and acceptance and now every time I log on I get either tossed side or just blatantly disrespected. so I wanted to hear what other people though about this new change and if they prefer it or not, because I hate to say it but with the way I ave been treated on here lately I think I will likely be closing my account.

It is just new forum software. I am sorry if you are having a bad experience and you just have to shake some of the negativity off because there are plenty of people who like you and enjoy having you post here. :)

I like the new forum software. :bolian:

I still can not figure out how to edit what I write... I'd rather edit, then post twice... but ::shrugs::

You will get an edit button when you have a certain number of posts, don't know the exact number.

It's a software change, really. The community is the same, for the most part, as it has been for at least the past couple of years. Of course, I remember much further back than that. [/rocking chair creaks]

There are some new changes in which to adjust, like the theme, and the button layout which is somewhat different, but over time you'll get used to it. I've been through 3 major software changes in my time here (uBB, vBulletin, and now Xenforo), and I've grown accustomed to each one. It merely takes a little time. :)

As for the Administration, it is still headed by the same person: Bonz took over back in the time when 56K modems were still considered "high speed," and she still rules the forum with an iron fist and an even iron-er (iron-ish? Iron Butterfly?) stare.

We're just as warm and welcoming as we've always been, at least in the main forum. There are places where debate and discussion are more lively and zesty, but those are voluntary places, and usually only for people who want to engage with others in something more high spirited and upbeat (these are nice ways of saying some of us can be jerks there).

So just relax, get used to the new format, and before you know it you'll be thinking of it as home again, just in a nicer place and that sad smell isn't around anymore. It's been replaced with a new smell of sadness.

Yeah I just get taken aback when a thread is so quickly closed because it tends to be this scenario
*I post forum
*discussion for 5 minutes
*Moderator shuts it down with a brief reason
*No opportunity for me to explain my side, normally resulting in me appearing kinda bitchy

as for the edit button I think it's the same as it has always been, once you post 50+ (or a month which ever is sooner) you get more options

I agree it was just like *slap NOW GO LEARN MY CHILDREN lol and I'm like noooo I am not computer savvy!

The edit button is in a different location. It's directly below your signature now.

Keep in mind if you have specific suggestions about the board or how it's run, there's the Questions, Suggestions, and Feedback forum. I'll let this stay here to talk about the design of the software, though.

Don't know how to access hyperlink stuff, emoticon stuff etc... I'm sure it's somewhere, but I'm not seeing it.

^ When you go to make a new post, there is a little smiley icon with all the other formatting stuff. If you click it, then all the possible emoticons appear.
