News New Game - Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown

This was a surprise for me today. A new VOY game announcement was not on my bingo card this year. The ability to chart your own path home is intriguing. For as unpopular as this board sometimes makes it out to be the series sure gets a lot of attention 25 years on. Pretty much a sequel in PRO, Seven being a main character on PIC, and now what could be a pretty cool video game adaption where I can give Neelix an early demise? Keep it coming.

Just noticed that in the trailer you can see some of those Borg rooms

I recognize that area from the Enterprise-D. Did they ever re-use that set for Voyager?

Edit: Answering my own question. Yes. :)

TrekCore has a couple screenshots not on the Steam page
The "Most Important Device in the Universe" (aka Tucker Tubes) is in that first screenshot! :D

And in another it looks like Voyager is fighting *two* Starfleet ships.

I wonder if you can just beat the game in the first mission by using the Caretaker Array to get home.

Probably not if the point is to experience stuff in the Delta Quadrant.
Additionally, contrary to what people said about using timed charges to destroy the Array...

1. There was a time crunch because Tuvok said it would take several hours for him to set up the mechanism to return VOY to the AQ... and more Kazon reinforcements were on their way.

2. Timed charges aren't reliable because there's no way to confirm they would go off once the ship is transported back to the AQ - Jabin was still in the area on his raider ship (meaning, they could have boarded the Array once VOY was transported away, found and disabled the charges).

3. Timed charges likely wouldn't be enough. VOY used Tricobalt devices (which were likely installed initially to deal with any potential heavily shielded Maquis outposts Janeway might find in the Badlands) because they are more suitable for taking down fortified installations (and the Array definitely filled that criteria) - plus if the Kazon boarded and found/disabled them, they would not only get into possession of the Array, but also Starflee's top of the line weapons.

4. VOY was heavily damaged in the initial transit, and while it was patched up, it sustained new damage from battling the Kazon, so there would be 0 guarantee it would survive the trip back to the AQ.

Given these points, its unlikely there would be an option to use the Caretaker's Array to return home - unless you can defeat the Kazon near the Array in the game completely, save Chakotay's ship and then just flee the area before more reinforcements arrive - because the mechanism to transport VOY back to the AQ couldn't be activated earlier (and with VOY's damage from fighting the Kazon - it would be proverbial suicide to try and take on more of their ships).

So I'm assuming on a speedrun you can just genocide a bunch of aliens like the Equinox did and get to Earth in like 5 minutes? Can you ask the computer why the Enterprise in TOS can do 1,000 light years in 12 hours (check "That Which Survives", not to mention ST5 and TAS where the center of the galaxy is reachable) and suddenly since TNG 1,000 light years takes a year?
Just use the caretakers array to get home right away!
