New animated show announced... Star Wars: Resistance

Thinking about it, the show starting more or less six months before TFA, starting roughly a year before Episode IX is to release, could mean that they intend to have Resistance sort of bridge the gap between TLJ and Ep.IX, with what happens in Resistance being the events that follow the relatively short sequence of events in TFA and TLJ (weeks to a few months at most between the two films).

I can see this working. The first two seasons would be set before TFA, and assuming Episode IX is set a few years (at least) after TLJ, seasons 3 and 4 can take place in that gap. Assuming those seasons would be darker in tone, to reflect the grim state the Resistance is in after TLJ this could allow the season to "grow up" with the audience.

So the premier is airing at 10PM in both Eastern and Pacific timezones.
That seems like an odd time for what seems to be a kid centric show.
Unless they're expecting most people will just record it or watch it on On Demand.

Holy Jesus... the likes/dislikes. 1.9k up and 1.4k down. Is there going to be a thread about this? (of course there is) This is veering into Lady Ghostbusters Sheboot territory.

Can you stop trying to stir up internet drama for once? Who cares? There are people without lives who go around downvoting videos for very stupid reasons, like this stupid hatred of Star Wars going around the same pathetic internet circles. The show will succeed or fail on it's own merit, not because a bunch of pathetic losers downvoted a video. People were hating Rebels before it came out and it changed opinions rather quickly.

Definitely seems to be some brigading going on, but I wouldn't be so quick to label all of the 35 thousand downvoters "a bunch of pathetic losers", the reactions online have been mixed to put it mildly. Me, I'll probably give this show a chance (they had me at Star Wars, I'm still that type of sucker), but this preview seriously rubbed me the wrong way. I don't like the character animation one bit, and the slapstick stuff makes me cringe a little.

I wonder if they’ll actually do something with Phasma? Would be funny if every episode she was in had her dying, Murdoc style.

I read that there's this video clip of the Futurama episode about the Neutral Planet where users have somehow conspired to make sure it always has an exactly equal number of likes and dislikes. It might be some kind of bot that's doing it automatically, but still, it's a cute gag. Although I have no strong feelings about it one way or the other.

As far as the trailer itself goes, I really miss the days when watching a Star Wars trailer - even a teaser - meant you had at least some inkling as to the storyline of what you were going to be seeing, but I like the 'look' of some of the characters we saw and hope we learn more about them soon.
That's not unique to Star Wars though, pretty much all teasers are like that. I'm pretty sure it's intentional too, teasers are pretty much just an early announcement that this thing is coming out, so I think they leave things vague on purpose. Usually once we start getting full trailers, we'll get a clearer idea of what the thing is like.
I don't believe the franchise is dying because a bunch of babies got upset that there were too many girls in the movies.
One thing that confuses me about the guys with that attitude is that you'd think they'd like getting to watch girls.

You're crossing streams. Most of the downvoting of the trailer is because they think the cel-shader looks like crap.

Select comments with lots of upvotes:

-That bare-minimum animation style... Yikes!
-The art style looks like an animation that never went past the textures, let alone the rendering stage.
-i find your lack of animation disturbing.
-Cheapest animation ever?
-2006 called they want their animation back.
-Clone wars: Fantastic animation, exciting story Rebels: Cheap mediocre animation and... ok story Resistance: My eyes!

You and me both.

That's one thing that bugs me about the Resistance trailer, in fact -- the cast seems overwhelmingly male. I only spotted one or at most two female characters. That's not encouraging. The female characters in Rebels were the only ones I really liked.

Hera was IMO the best character on Rebels, Sabine and Kanan are tied for second. Zeb was alright I guess, but I never warmed up to Ezra, and he actually gets worse as the show progresses.
