New 2017 titles and blurbs - DTI, McCormack DS9, and more!

I'm wondering if the lack of TOS novels this year is related to Discovery being set in the 23rd century and so Pocket is holding off on 23rd century novels until they get some idea on if or how the show will impact the dynamic of that century, as there aren't any Seekers novels planned this year either. Pocket did something similar in 2008, when their schedule was done up they believed Trek XI would be released that year and so they stayed away from TOS and Vanguard until they were able to see how the movie would impact the 23rd century.

Or I could just be overthinking things and there could be a much simpler explanation of Pocket wanting to push TNG novels because of this year being its 30th anniversary.
They could get around that a little bit by going with TOS movie-era stories (as opposed to 5YM tales, which are set much closer to the timeframe of Discovery), plus they'd scratch a huge itch for much of the novel-fandom, to boot. I'm thinking that DSC probably won't affect the late 23rd Century too much, plotwise.

I doubt it. I would love to see post series short stories. But I don't think they want to do anthologies anymore.

I'm reading The Sky's The Limit and wondering since it's TNG's 30th anniversary (that anthology came out for the 20th). You'd think there'd be another such book this year.

Really? You don't get enough with the TOS novels? If they were to go that route I'd much rather get ones for TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise since we haven't gotten new stories set during those shows in years.

Pure speculation at this point if this is really a Star Trek novel, but in S&S's online catalog a David R. George III novel called Original Sin has popped up for a December 26th 2017 release.

No info on the book and Star Trek isn't in the title (as usual on S&S site IIRC) but since the release date fits the last Tuesday of the month pattern and DRG III hasn't done anything outside Trek for Pocket yet I would say this being a Trek novel is a very strong possibility IMHO.

Wait, three DS9 books in one year? That seems a bit odd.

I'm glad we're getting 3 ds9 books this year it's been long overdue to have 3 new ds9 books coming out in one year.:bolian: I look forward to reading them.

If it is a Trek novel it doesn't necessarily has to be DS9. DRGIII has written TOS in the past for example.

I could be wrong but I thought it was mentioned before he was working on a non-DS9 Trek novel.

That's not what was said.
Yeah, but since DRG3 has been the one person to write the main DS9 story line since 2011 it seems reasonable to assume that it is a DS9 book, or like his last TOS book at least connected to DS9. My money's on the TOS novel, though.

One option could be that Kirsten has given up Voyager. While I would hate that I also hate that Voyager novels are going to be coming out far less often with her new job.
