Netflix greenlights new "Lost in Space"

There must be a special place in hell for people using the phrase "THE WORST [movie/book/comics/etc] EVER!!!". There was at least one of them in every IMDB board...

That raises an interesting philosophical question. Hell is supposed to be the most extreme punishment imaginable, so how do you punish the sin of excessive hyperbole? By toning down the suffering? :wtf:

By the way, I know that quality is subjective etc etc, but just on Rotten Tomatoes there are a LOT of new tv shows considered worse than LIS (that have a respectable 69%)

Excellent question. People, any suggestion?

It's not often we come across a sci-fi show where we can say that the worlds they feature feel truly alien.

I applaud them for shooting on location (as it gives them a big budget look) but while they peppered things with CGI/props, their environment looks every bit as much like the canadian forest that it is.

That's hardly a condemnation, any more than pointing out that a stage play looks like it's performed on a stage. Every production has to operate under some realistic limitations that can't be helped. What matters is how much they manage to achieve within those limitations. I feel LiS did an excellent job making its locations seem more diverse, exotic, and expansive than most other Vancouver-forest-using shows have done.

Yeah, not to mention that I think it's a bit unfair to say it looks like a Canadian forest when that downplays the amount of variety in landscape that the show has. And besides, one of my pet peeves is pointing out the "Canadian forest" as if to say they're all the same. Anyway, the world they created felt alien to me, which is what matters.

That's no more a handicap than every planet SG-1 visited looking like the Vancouver woods, or every planet Dr Who visited in the 70s being a quarry.

Or, hell, most episodes of the original LiS and Star Trek being on obvious sound stage sets.

I read on Wikipedia this morning they are moving production of Season 2 to Iceland, so that should add some interesting new scenery to the show.

Yeah, but that's not punishing them for their hyperbole so much as legitimizing it. Well, unless it were the real worst movie ever, which would show them how much worse movies could get than the mildly disappointing film they condemned so ridiculously.
It's Hell, as long as it's making them miserable it's good. Plus Clockwork Orange eye restraints.

I hope they are properly lost for season 2. That lessened my excitement in season one for me; with them in that colony.
Should be back soon hopefully. Problem with these digital only shows is the freer structuture when it comes to release dates. They’re like British shows in that way.

Those rings where they ended up don't look like a natural formation. Gut feeling
