She whispered her name so carefully, as not to be overheard - especially by we, the audience. Why not just come out and say, "my name is Sammy Jo" like anybody normal would? It's very awkward - it almost interrupts the scene - so why include it, as it wasn't necessary? Has anything ever been made out of this in Fan Circles? Novels, perhaps?
