My journey in Deep Space

"Facets"

"Jadzia asks her friends to take on the personalities of Dax's past hosts for a Trill rite of closure. She bonds with suddenly maternal Kira and shudders from violent Sisko. Once Odo gets Curzon inside him, however, he doesn't want the ritual to end."

I just bought a new 37" HDTV and it really made me want to see DS9 in HD. I don't know if I would re-buy all the seasons but I might consider some kind of fan collection in blu-ray.

I didnt really expect that revelation from Curzon about his love for Jadzia. It was a completely understandable reason and it really changed their relationship. Bring on the finale!

I actually didn't like it at all. I thought the idea of Curzon being in love with Jadzia was silly - how could she not have known that, when she's supposed to have all Curzon's memories? And Joran was characterised as a raging horror film psycho, which is not at all how he was portrayed in "Equilibrium."

"The Adversary"

"A changeling tricks Sisko and the crew into taking actions that could start a war with the Klingons."

Not exactly what I expected from the season finale. There really was no cliffhanger. The episode itself was very good. I felt a strong sense of paranoia and I never truly trusted anyone. I also thought that the episode had a great and original score.

The banter between the "klingons" and also with Dukat and Damar (same episode, right?) was pretty good too. =)

"The Adversary"

"A changeling tricks Sisko and the crew into taking actions that could start a war with the Klingons."

Uh... were you watching the right episode? I don't remember the Klingons being mentioned in that episode.

Of course, they are heavily featured in the next episode.

And Joran was characterised as a raging horror film psycho, which is not at all how he was portrayed in "Equilibrium."
Apparently, the first intended take had Brooks play it in a far quieter manner - which was deemed "too effective" and they reshot.

"The Adversary"
Not exactly what I expected from the season finale. There really was no cliffhanger.
Originally, Homefront was meant to be the S3 finale, and Paradise Lost the S4 opener. They got bumped back to mid-S4 when Paramount decreed that S3 shouldn't have a cliffhanger ending, and they kinda scrambled for an ending, eventually settling on breaking the "No changeling has ever harmed another" 'rule' established earlier in S3.

Season 4 of DS9 is the only season that I don't own. I haven't had the chance to buy it yet, that explains my lack of updates.

"The Way of the Warrior"

"As Worf arrives on temporary assignment to Deep Space Nine, the Klingons and Starfleet come into conflict, both locally and on a galactic scale. When the Klingon Empire breaks its long-lived peace treaty with the Federation, Worf must decide where his loyalties lie."

Worf baby! This episode was amazing. It really felt like another pilot episode, almost movie quality. The story never slowed or felt drawn out. Sisko took too much into his own hands. I would have expected Starfleet to have some kind of influence in all the decision making. Sisko almost singlehandly ended peace between the Federation and the Klingons, although it was the Klingons who left the Kitomor accords.

"The Visitor"

"An engineering accident throws Benjamin Sisko out of phase with the universe, but he appears to Jake periodically when the dimensions shift. Jake spends his entire life obsessed with finding a way to bring him back, finally realizing that only his own death can provide a means to destroy his timeline."

What can I say about this episode that hasn't been said before. Quite simply it is the best episode of Trek I have ever seen. My only complaint is that I never again will be able to view it for the first time. The episode was so powerful that I found myself getting choked up many times, I dare say I fought back tears at the end. Tony Todd is a brilliant actor and he turned in a fantastic performance. You knew that the "reset" button was going to be pushed but it was done so perfectly that it didnt matter.

Best. Episode. Ever.

^^^ The fact that the "reset" button is both a character's choice rather than a plotting cheat, and that at least one character does remember the alternate future, is what makes it work.

"Hippocratic Oath"

"When Bashir is taken hostage by a rebel group of Jem'Hadar, he agrees to help them fight their addiction to Dominion-engineered Ketracel-White, over O'Brien's passionate objections."

I enjoyed the B story a lot more than the A story. Bashir was too quick to help the Jem'Hadar. Worf's conflict with Odo was natural.

But Bashir is *always* like that. Its interesting to see him break rank...

Whats more interesting to me is the A-story- about the fact the Jem'Hadar may usually obey the Vorta, but that they're aware that they're mistreated sometimes, that they are capable of mercy- they aren't killing machines- they're people, oppressed, enslaved, and yes- some want a way out. They may still want to serve the Founders- but its easy to see the Jem'Hadar are too intellegent to be subserviant to weak, self-serving and ambitious Vorta. The Founders were short-sighted- The Jem'Hadar first should be in charge, Vorta should be... something else.

Yeah, I think it's a very consistent point of Bashir's characterisation that he has a tendency to think he knows better than everyone else. And it very often bites him on the ass.

"Indiscretion"

"When Kira sets off on a mission to recover the survivors of a long-lost Bajoran ship, Dukat insists on accompanying her. She learns why when he admits that his Bajoran lover was aboard the vessel, and his illegitimate half-Bajoran daughter - Ziyal, whom he intends to kill - is one of the survivors."

Why do I enjoy "B" stories better than the main ones. As good as the main story was I was more concerned with Sisko and Kassidy. Quark gave him some great advice, I think I might use it.

"Rejoined"

"Jadzia is torn between a Trill law prohibiting relationships with lovers from past incarnations, and her love for a woman who now hosts the symbiont which was joined with the wife of one of the Dax symbiont's previous hosts."

Blah. Average love story of the week. I guess I just don't believe that love would last like that. I guess I'm not a hopeless romantic.

"Starship Down"

"A battle with the Jem'Hadar strands the Defiant in the atmosphere of a planet. While Dax and Bashir are trapped in a lift together and Kira tries to keep a dying Sisko alert on the bridge, Quark represents the best hope for assistance."

Fantastic episode. Every character had there own little story and it all fit together perfectly. The space battle was great, it felt like a classic submarine battle. I like Worf's command style.
