My journey in Deep Space

I think so too. I kind of want to see season 4 because it seems like a lot of stuff happens there. Season 3 I'm gathering is just a "get your feet wet." But Season 5, 6, and 7... brace yourself.... its just that good.

"Distant Voices"

"In order to save his own life, Bashir must confront different aspects of his own personality, manifested to him as members of the crew as he lays dying after an attack."

I thought el Fadil actually did a good acting job in this episode.

"Through the Looking Glass"

"Kidnapped by "Smiley" O'Brien into the dark alternate universe, Sisko must take on the role of his dead counterpart in the resistance movement and in the beds of Dax and Kira in order to save Jennifer, his wife from Deep Space Nine's universe."

If I was Sisko I would have tried to bring Jennifer back with me.

Your going to like the next THREE episodes!!!! But it all seriousness, I remember them to this day... and that was... ten years ago.

Sounds like a good idea. I think I'll have a mini marathon tonight. I'll make myself some popcorn and I'll start them.

"Improbable Cause"

"A terrorist attack on Garak's shop and a series of additional violent episodes cause Odo to launch an investigation into who is trying to kill the exiled Cardassian tailor who was once a spy. Garak does his own investigating, and finds out that he can't trust anyone."

It final seems that the Dominion War is about to start. I have been waiting for the Dominion to attack DS9 but seems that the Cardassians are going to start the war instead. It final seems like some planning is going on in the way this show was written. There were a lot of tiny references that made this episode really fun. Those are the kind of references that I will notice when I make a 2nd run through of the series. On to part 2...

If you ever make it to a second run through, you'll find that the first three seasons come up A LOT...

you don't really appreciate all the little things until you've seen it all play out...

that's how it was for me at least. I always thought DS9 was a decent show, really frakkin' fantastic by the end of season five...

but it was only after watching it a second time that I really got it all.

At this stage the Dominion is still manipulating events in the Alpha Quadrant behind the scenes. They aren't quite ready for open war yet.

"The Die is Cast"

"As Romulan and Cardassian ships prepare for an ill-advised attack on the Dominion, Garak's former mentor (and possible father) demands that Garak prove his loyalty by helping him test a weapon for use against the Founders on Odo."

Now thats what I'm talking about. The interrogation was brutal, with some great makeup and acting from Rene. The battle scenes were top notch. Where did Eddington come from? He just seemed to show up. I actually was surprised that the Founders had infiltrated the Romulans like that.

"Explorers"

"Sisko builds a version of an ancient Bajoran space vessel in an effort to prove that prehistoric Bajorans really achieved warp velocity and landed on Cardassia, as legends suggest."

I thoroughly enjoyed this episode from beginning to end. O'Brien and Bashir really have a good friendship going on now. I loved seeing the two of them drunk! Sisko and Jake had great father-son moments. Lofton is probably the best child actor Trek has seen. Finally Sisko has the goatee!

I thought that one was very enjoyable too. :)

Unfortunately my most recent experience watching it was marred by my deciding to try jambalaya that night, to get in the spirit of things, only to have what I realized years later was my first run-in with a pretty nasty form of acid reflux.

Oh well...I'll probably have to rewatch it sometime, because I remember that episode being VERY good on the first watch.

And who knew...the Cardassians had firework torpedoes!

"Family Business"

"When a Ferengi inquisitor comes to punish him for the crimes of his relatives, Quark travels to Ferenginar to punish his Moogie for violating Ferengi law - not only does she wear clothes these days, but she's amassed quite a profit over the years."

Didn't we already see this episode, except it was called Rules of Acquisition?

"Shakaar"

"Kira joins her former leader from the Resistance, whom she was dispatched to arrest, in his struggle to free the planet from the dictates of Kai Winn. He succeeds, and appears likely to become Bajor's new leader."

I can't stand Kai Winn. I absolutely hate her. I can't believe the Bajoran people have put her into places of power, what a poor choice of leadership. I certainly enjoyed Kira and, to a lesser extent, Sisko put her in her place.

Definitely one of the best villains of all time.

But I would still vote for her over George W. Bush. :rommie:

Glad you enjoyed Improbable Cause/The Die is Cast.

In my opinion, those two episodes, Duet and The Visitor are the absolute best pre-war episodes of the entire show.
