My Dirty Little Secret

Been eating more veggies lately in the past couple of months (salads mostly for lunch), though I doubt diet is the cause. This is some random and intermittent anomaly that occurs.

Without any more information.

Bathe. Daily. Sometimes twice.
Antiperspirant is your friend.
Body powder is your friend.
Foot powder is your friend.
Chewing gum is your friend when your toothbrush is too far away.
Body aroma can be based on diet. Try avoiding that curried goat.

Not trying to make light of your situation, but with what you've given us to go on, I got nuthin' else to give other than sympathy.

Shower?

Geez, what a concept! :vulcan:

Is it a sweet odor? could be diabetes.

True, but deodorant/antiperspirant does the job. It's something else.

Okay ... but I'm afraid they're watching, or even reading this board.

Whatever it is, it's part of my secondary mutation.

Has someone commented that you stink or are you noticing your own funk?

^I noticed in the fitness thread that you've been working out a lot. Perhaps sweating more, especially in public at the gym, is making you more aware of your BO in general, i.e. you're self-conscious about your odor at the gym where you are naturally smellier, and so have become hyper-attuned to your odor and are noticing it more often than you would usually. Just an idea.

Just because you can hide the odor does not negate that if the scent is sweet it could be diabetes. Have you been urinating alot lately? taking lots of naps? Sudden weight loss? Find you are thirsty alot?

I was recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. That would explain the general lack of energy, mood swings, etc., and lately, sweating, thirst, frequent urination. However, since I've always used a body spray in conjunction with an antiperspirant/deodorant, I don't have any sweaty odor, even when I do cardio exercise on most days (and I DO literally work up a sweat).

I've heard of other people who have the fishy odor, primarily due to a protein-rich, mostly meat diet. I guess depending on what a person eats (e.g., onion, garlic, curry, etc.), he/she tends to emit certain bodily or breath odors.

Forgive me for asking, but are you taking any hard drugs like cocaine or one it's variants, or heroin? They can cause the body to sweat a lot more than usual

Well, like sojurner said, body odor is a symptom of high blood sugar. It's quite possibly as simple as that, and would explain why you experience it off and on. If that's the case, the better control you have, the less you'll experience BO.
