Most Underappreciated Character

Inspired by another thread I was wondering what viewers think the most under-appreciated character (guest stars well) was in the series run. For my 21st century currency, it's James Darren as Vic Fontaine. I enjoyed every appearance he made in DS9 and wish he and the Doctor from Voyager had an episode together

Isnt that because he basically isnt a character?

I think I might go with Keiko too, O'Brien wouldnt have been nearly as interesting without her.

The writers have said that they tried to add Andy Robinson as a full-time cast member with opening credit status as of the Season 4 premiere, but Berman didn't allow them to go through with that plan.

As for the thread title: IMO all the DS9 characters are appreciated, but the main cast members are generally disproportionately and undeservedly over-appreciated (especially Kira) even though aside from Odo and Quark, the secondary characters are much better-acted and more interesting than the main characters. In that respect, all the non-main characters are not given as much appreciation as they deserve, even though they do still get tons of appreciation.

I was looking for some verification of this story as well, could you cite your source?

I remember Jammers review for "It's Only A Paper Moon" which basically pointed that this was the only episode where Rom and Leeta played parents instead of comic relief.

Well, yes, they have acquired the trappings of good civil government from the British, and yes, they have their highly intelligent classes, and yes, they do what they are told. Can they appreciate the better points of individualism, which has served to make America and the rest of Western Europe what they became? Can they avoid the failures of recent European socialism?

I personally found Keiko a bit too miserable at times in the series but I never hated her

But back to the question on most underappreciated character than I'd go for....Sisko ?

I found Keiko to be a very irritating character, i don't find she was an entirely un appriciated character for i don't think she had much to work with as a character.

Me either because in a lot of ways I liked Ezri over Jadzia simply because Ezri was more flawed and had room to grow. Also, Jadzia was like a big movie star and Ezri was the small Television actor who was attainable.

I think a lot of the scorn toward Ezri comes from the fact that, in my opinion, her introductory episodes portrayed her as confused and a little whiny. The writers recovered from that well enough, but you know what they say about first impressions...

That said, on the whole, I found Ezri/Nicole a better offering than Dax/Farrel. Which isn't to say that I disliked Dax at all, she was just never a character I thought of when Deep Space Nine floated to the top of my mind. But Ezri could have been had the character lasted a bit longer.

Ezri was an annoying character that sidetracked DS9.

Nog is the most underappreciated character. Most episode for a recurring character and never gets added to the opening credits even though he had surpassed Jake in importance.

An even bigger slap in the face? He wasn't in the final Vic scene. Cassidy was! Nog actually had a personal connection with Vic and also helped Vic in Badda Bing! It was ridiculous Nog wasn't in that scene.
