Most frightening Star Trek Episode

First season Trek had a very Twilight Zone, tense, creepy feel throughout. Scariest moments: The faceless woman in "Charlie X" and the salt vampire's first appearance from "Man Trap". As a kid those two moments resulted in a lot of lost sleep over the next few days. Corbomite Manoever too, especially the size of the ship.

Next Gen: "Q Who" and "Conspiracy", yes, but in general, I think NG could depict the Earth overwhelmed with zombies, and it would still be bland.

DS9 probably has a few.

Voyager... "Faces", where Klingon-Torres's Videan abductor has a Voyager crew member's dead face grafted over his... thinking she'll enjoy this! Didn't see that one coming.... Frankly, I was sorry to hear later that she hadn't killed the guy.

Well, I agree with some of the others here...but I'm really surprised Empok Nor has not been mentioned yet.

Downright creepy episode.

Another creepy one was one of those early ENT episodes where they found the crew of another ship all dead and hanging upside down.
I always forget about Empok Nor, that one is pretty creepy.

There was this one scene in Voyager's episode "Cold Fire". Especially with the screaming.

A scariest "Trek Momment" is from my childhood when that woman comes crawling from around that corner wall and she has no face; Charlie-X has taken it from her. Shuttttterrrr...

Voy's "The Thaw" was recently on Spike TV. I have to admit that when I saw that one it left me feeling... unsettled. Sure, the resolution was a little weak, but Janeway makes a good point when she says that maybe what Fear wants most of all is to simply be conquered. Interesting stuff.

Schisms, by a long shot. The scene in the holodeck alone is creepy as hell. *shivers*

TNG's Masks is eerie but then I suppose that's not quite the same as frightening.

Another vote for Frame of Mind, but again that's disturbing.

I remember Sub Rosa being a bit scary.

The scene where all the dead people surrounding Dr. Crusher sit up in "Night Terrors" to this day freaks me out.

That episode would get my vote.

That was fucking freaky. *shudders*

Two more good choices, very creepy stuff.

Conspiracy gets another vote from me, with the whole bug infesting thing at the end. And Frame of Mind, Schisms and Genesis too. TNG did some great creepy episodes.

I have terrified memories of watching "Frame of Mind" by myself in the dark as a kid. Same with hearing the voices for the first time in "Cause and Effect," and to this day Spider-Barclay freaks me out. :alienblush:

Eyes in the dark. One moon circle.

Yeah, that freaked me out when I was young as well.

TNG has done the best creepy stuff.

Night Terrors was awesome! This is what a "fear" story should be like. It seems these days, torture porn, like the Saw movies gets peddled as "fear". There's a difference between fear and revulsion. The scene in the Sick Bay with all the corpses sitting up definitely gives me shivers even now (at 29 years old LOL)

Frame of Mind wasn't really scary as it was "mindfreaking". It wasn't meant to be scary, just twisted version of reality, like the Matrix.

Schisms didn't really scare me although I loved the episode (interesting concept of 24th Century humans still being "abducted" by Aliens) I especially loved the end when Riker fires his Phaser at one of them basically making the statement "don't fuck with us again, we can fight back"

Seriously, how can there be people that hate TNG, when it did good, it did GOOD

I was a little kid, up late as my parents were visiting neighbors. I came upon The Tholian Web about halfway through. The sight of a ghostly Kirk floating around, combined with the scary music and screaming crewmen really freaked me out.

I don't like Voyager that much but the episode where the Borg assimilated the population of a planet scared me.. the brutality and mercilessness of the Borg was truly horrifying.

I always thought TNG was at its best when it did creepy, horrifying episodes, so it gets my vote, no contest. The other series tried for the atmosphere of weirdness that TNG was able to regularly create, but never really captured it.

BoBW I and II--this epitomized terror--the assimilation of Picard, seeing his corpse-like assimilated Locutus, the speech about "death is irrelevant", the crew facing the very possibility that have they not only lost Picard but are facing the end of their very way of life, the ominous sight of the cube with Ron Jones' haunting score, the sight of the decimated fleet, the fatalism, dark tones of a suicide run etc.

Night Terrors

Schisms

I remember being freaked out a little when I was a wee sprog by "The Lights of Zetar", esp the Memory Alpha color-changing and gargling chick and the weird voice of the Lights.
