Most disturbing scene in star trek?

For me, the most disturbing scene in all of Star Trek is the DS9 episode where the female vedek friend of Kira's hangs herself in order to prove a point to Kira that the Dominion is evil and should not be bargained with. When I saw her feet dangling and her hat falling to the floor, I literally felt sick. I have shivers just writing about it.

Another disturbing scene is Odo's flashback to when he was security chief on Terok Nor and watched the execution of the three Bajoran workers.

Watching Rojan the Kelvin crush the distilled solid form of one of the two Enterprise crewmembers in "By Any Other Name." Just knowing that one of those young innocent people had just died in such a cold display of power was sad enough, but (unless your paying uber attention I suppose) you don't really know which one. It sort of forces your mind to play those "lesser-of-two-evil" mind games where you feel guilty hoping for one or the other to survive. It wasn't gross, but more mentally disturbing.

That's exactly the one I was thinking of.

The thing that gets me really, though -- being somewhat of a romantic and a bit of a chauvinist -- was the fact that it was the innocent and attractive female ensign whose life was simply snuffed out for no reason, rather than the guy.

Back in the sixties, that would have had to have been a deliberate CHOICE by those making the episode, specifically to elicit the visceral reaction I had.

Really? I just thought that that woman was awfully annoying. Talk about overreacting.

Apart from TOS, when I was a child, which doesn't count since children are scared of just about anything, nothing I've seen is particularly disturbing. There is a certain ewww factor in some of them but ST never took any risks. It was always a family show.

I didn't think Conspiracy was particularly family-friendly, certainly not by Trek's normal standards.A man's head and upper torso are graphically blown-off...and as if that isn't enough a giant bug climbs out of the remains!

That is one of two episodes of TNG I will never, ever watch.

it was like something out of that movie from the 80's when the cars and trucks come alive and someone gets run over by a car.
Maximum Overdrive; you can see my old house in the scene where Billy is riding his bike through the neighborhood. For that reason, I own the movie and watch it occasionally. The movie itself is only tolerable.

At the time (although it seems rather mild now), the scene in TNG "Conspiracy" where all the alien bugs come out of the Lt. Commander.

Picard and Riker blasting Lt. Commander Remmick's head off in "Conspiracy". I just sat there thinking, "Wow- did I just see that?!" A pretty disturbing image, and not what I was used to seeing on Star Trek....

Never mind them blowing off his head. Him eating up that crab-roach hybrid thingie was far more disgusting imo. :ack:
both were gross!

What about that bit where they eat worms? I'd completely forgotten about that.

The entire episode grosses me out to no end.

The whole torture of Picard in "Chain of Command" was really shocking, still is.

Odo's torture by Garak in "The Die is Cast" was, as well.
