I'm sure Stewart and Sirtis had a chuckle over that.Due a rewatch. I’ll never find it not funny when Geordi suddenly explains he’s found a “bogey” on the scanners. Bogey is what we Brits would call a “booger”.

To be fair, first season TNG doesn't really follow *any* rules.Wait a second. "Bogey" is 20th Century slang! I'm told that isn't allow in Star Trek!!!!![]()

They would have to try to replicate a Bacall. What if Geordi found a Humphrey Bogart on the scanners. What then.
I know Stewart and Spiner got the attention as the supposedly best actors of the group, but I think anytime Frakes was given something meaty to work with, he did a great job. I really like the Riker character, even though he is sometimes under-utilized. I particularly thought Frakes did an excellent job in Picard.Mostly moments involving Riker or Troi, both individually and collectively lol. I feel like they didn't really know how to write either character. Crusher wasn't bad, just very underutilized, even in comparison to the other two.
Not all of their moments were cringe, of course. I actually really enjoyed Troi as a Romulan or Riker's mindbreak theater episode.
I actually really connected with Wesley despite his Mary Sue persona.
It's funny, because while I have my issues with the character of Riker, a lot of which stemmed from the writers not knowing wth they were doing with him, somehow, when they settled into using Riker as a frequent jerk (With Shelby, Jellico, Ro Laren, Tom Riker, etc...) you really start seeing good acting from Frakes. Some of us may take issue with how the character is behaving, but you can't fault the actor. He's making all that stuff VERY interesting drama.I know Stewart and Spiner got the attention as the supposedly best actors of the group, but I think anytime Frakes was given something meaty to work with, he did a great job. You saying that about Riker acting with more antagonism toward Picard in "Yesterday's Enterprise" is something I noticed, too. And it isn't often talked about. It was a great subtle nod that illustrated just how radically different that timeline was. I noticed it really was a deliberate choice from Frakes to play him that way. He even gets pissy with Picard in Yesterdays Enterprise over sending the C back. I'd put the acting he's doing in later seasons up above Spiner's. It's got real depth. I truly buy it
It's pretty rare for Picard to just shut down an officer's objection like that. I loved that he did it with a deescalating charm about it too. Very unique moment between them, easily overlookedYou saying that about Riker acting with more antagonism toward Picard in "Yesterday's Enterprise" is something I noticed, too.
