Moments for the Trekkies

When the cadets were being posted to different ships, you can hear ships like Farragut and Stargazer being announced... That was a Trekkie moment for me coz I don't think a neutral viewer would even notice...

The Mind Altering eel/bug thing...QUOTE]

Was that actually a Ceti eel? The excited Trekkie sitting next to me squealed so loudly I couldn't hear the dialogue?

He definitely said it was a Ceti Alpha something, but it looked like a nastier version that wouldn't fit in the ear. Maybe it was an adult one, it did look about the size of the one that Khan grabbed the baby eels from in STII.

I am going to be pay so much attention on Sunday again. Hell if I could find someone in Tampa on Saturday who would go see it in IMAX with me, I'd go three times in three days! :bolian::bolian:

When boy Kirk lost the car into the deep trench - I believe that trench was the one from the Xindi weapon when they attacked Earth in Enterprise ?? Can anyone confirm ?

No it was not a Ceti Eel. It was a Centauran Slug (another reference to the fans is Alpha Centauri, site of a Federation Colony).

As nx1701g said it's not athe onefrom the time the Xindi attacked Florida. This thing in the movie was a rock quarry...probably the one they mined to make starships.

I kept hearing a peculiar trilling sound inside the Delta Vega complex. Keep a sharp eye on the desk clutter. :)

Kirk enjoying his apple brought back the echoes of of the .... past?...future?

I wonder, this slug, could it be a cousin of those slugs in TNG that almost took over Starfleet?

^ The conspiracy aliens? I doubt it. The conspiracy aliens were said to be from an unexplored part of the galaxy.

There were a lot of moments already mentioned that made me and my friends laugh out loud or clap, much to the dismay of the other non-Trekkie patrons who were sitting right in front of us.

But there were other trekkies in the theater as well.

There was a shuttlecraft named Moore. I'm unaware of there being such a shuttle in TOS, but if not, it may be of the same lineage as Farmer Moore from ENT's "Broken Bow" (ie, named after Ronald D.).

We got some laughs in the cinema when the numerous lines came up:
"Are you out of your Vulcan mind??!"
"Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor, not a physicist!"
The kobayashi maru test was a great addition. and the ceti alpha eel!

People at the cinema were having loads of fun: the Trekkies because of the Trek references, and everyone else (there weren't that many obvious Trekkies apart from myself present, and the place was packed both times I went) because many scenes were just extremely funny. The Kobayashi Maru bit was comedy gold.

Cardassian Sunrise. Tee-hee.

And...cue the canonites who say the Federation should know nothing of the Cardassians in this timeframe.

Those canonites would be idiots then. There was a DS9 episode that mentioned a Cardassian poet who lived in exile on Vulcan in the mid-23rd Century.

Who ever said that the Feds hadn't made first contact with the Cardies back then anyway? I don't recall a date being given on screen.

EVEN if they haven't, it doesn't mean they don't KNOW of their existence. Lots of aliens in the galaxy, others might have contact with them.

I missed a lot when I saw the first time. I can't wait to see it today in IMAX to catch things like the tribble and Pike's TMP uniform. Nice catch on Kirk's apple, I missed that one too.
One of my favorites was Sulu's fencing coming in handy.
