Moments for the Trekkies

The ultimate fate of Porthos. :(

If that was Porthos, he is either the oldest dog ever or time travelled...

Them space beagles got awesome DNA.

Didn't Phlox muck-around with Portho's DNA in an ENTERPRISE episode...? (ANISB??)

Maybe it IS the Original Pooch cause it's DNA was obviously altered somehow...

How delightful would that be, if the writers took something from what is considered by quite a few fans, as being the worst episode of that series, and used it in this movie. :guffaw:

I don't recall Phlox doing anything with Porthos's DNA.

I suggest that somehow or other Porthos ended up on the moon in DS9's Battle Lines and like Kai Opaka was rendered immortal via some cool microbes. Of course this meant he could never leave the moon BUT he managed to via whatever method Opaka employed in the novel Rising Son (what this was I've forgotten). Then he does a galactic Lassie and travels home through the as of yet undiscovered wormhole and returns to the aged Archer. All is well, there is cheese and then Scotty does his wee experiment on the poor already over travelled mutt.

Concerning Porthos my father had been naming dogs for about 48 years, same breed and same name for each dog. Just replaces dead old dog with new identical dog. So I see this as a Porthos successor, possibly a direct descendant.
I've heard of people doing that, too. And apparently all the Archers became admirals, in addition.

This is really nerdy and minor, but: the water tank that Scotty got trapped in right after the transwarp beam-in was covered with that drainage ditch grating that was an essential part of Trek set decoration from the DS9 years on.

Well, I got a kick out of it, at any rate. :p

Didn't he clone Porthos in an episode?

the BEST tid-bit SPOILERS

There were obvious tid-bits and ones harder to find, well for normal people at least. What was a tid-bit you spotted and pointed out to someone you saw it with..

Me? the GILIAN shuttle. I thought that was cool....classy...

Admiral Komack being present at the Academy. I can't remember which TOS episode he was mentioned in but he was mentioned. Delta Vega too, I was almost expecting the matte painting of the big structures of the lithium cracking station.

Amok Time - wouldn't let Spock go home and get his tube lubed but gave it up for T'Pau.

I just thought of two more:

- Majel Roddenberry voiced the Jellyfish
- I am pretty sure they said 47 Klingon Ships were destroyed.
