Moments for the Trekkies

I loved the voicveover at the end of the movie, I actually wasn't expecting that.

Some of the sound effects.
Especially the engine sound at the end, when the Enterprise speeds up to get out of the gravitational pull of the black hole.

Knowing Komack is in the movie is a really nice tip of the hat to the classic, more hardcore fans.

I liked the two spock's conversation.
" A lie?"
" I implied.."

that whole scene reminded me of Spock and Valeris in VI

Did anyone see the tribble?

The fact that the first thing we hear in the opening shot of the Kelvin is the "sonar ping" noise from the original series.

I liked the sound effects from the captain's chair, particularly when Kirk does the all call on the intercom after Spock relieves himself from command...all sound cues that hearkened back to TOS were really nice...

And...cue the canonites who say the Federation should know nothing of the Cardassians in this timeframe.
I always found the idea of a society not interacting with another on any level until 'official first contact' was made, quite unfathomable.

The Organians in ENT("Observer Effect")knew of them and indicated the planet Enterprise visited was also one a Cardassian ship had been to, meaning the Cardassians can't be TOO far away in the 22nd century.

According to this map (warning: large filesize), they are indeed much closer by then Q'onos, more like Nausica actually, which The Federation had regular contact with even before the time of TOS.
