The black things are vents I think, but you can't miss the Enterprise shape. Nooooooooo this is not one of my builds I can't build for crap. This is an official Lego set.

I planned on getting that Grissom. (not lit) I don't know, I did the little kit, which scratched that itch pretty well. Did the Discoprise in two scales. Have another kit I could refit to the SNW version. The Galileo shuttle looks too labor intensive for painting.

Getouttamyhead! Wasn't going to say anything but, I recall using it, (pronounced playing) as a phaser before, (pronounced last few days.) The orange circle fires it and the doors are the emitter. lol
Actually also I thought hey hold that in your hand like a phone and it's a communicator with the doors being the microphone. The two orange rectangles on the left are volume up and down the ones on the right are channels and the orange circle is the press to talk or hang up.

Box is dated 1995. I got it already opened so I intend to build it, length of life permitting. lol Not going to add a light kit.
Decal set is present but doubtful they'll work at all so I am going to need a new decal set if available. Does anyone have a good lead for a good set. 1/650 scale. Perhaps even an expanded set. Amazon, or Paypal payment method only, please.

Yes, plenty of aftermarket decals out there, plus Polar Lights makes a supplementary decal set for the kit (which they currently produce). Check at CultTVMan dot com, Federationmodels dot com, and Starshipmodeler dot biz for decals.
BTW, the scale of the Reliant is 1/537, same as the refit kit. The box may be marked wrong - they weren't very diligent about the scale in the marketing dept.
