Model Kit Building

That is a different img you quoted. I saw how blurry the original was and did a new image, in focus. But I got the front docking port in the new image, but Gingerbread Demon was talking about this part...

Okay. Thank you for adding to the thread, and my understanding of what that does in fiction. It is a pretty cool theory for it other than just a cargo door. lol

I remember when Voyager first came out, I thought it was a forward-mounted shuttlebay, which made it really confusing in the second or third episode when a key plot-point at the end was whether or not the ship had turned so the shuttlebay was pointed towards a shuttle.

Well it could have still been a door to Janeway's secret love dungeon or coffee stash

I think you mean a window. ;)

Parallax, perhaps. Great out of the gate anomaly episode. imo.

The dip you guys refer to has been defined by @Rick Sternbach as the auxiliary deflector dish, a back-up system to the main deflector dish below. Sternbach designed the thing in the first place, so he should know.

This has been a fun thread! I think it's clever how you build the ships to be collapsible to store in their original boxes. I'm sure my girlfriend wishes I had thought of that.

Canon or not, that is good enough for me. I hope he likes, appreciates or can at least stand my liberties. It was mostly just adding a little more pop or zing.

Thank you. An idea born of experience. I'd been up to my neck in tangled masses of models before. Now they stack neatly away when not needed, are quickly set up and enjoyed whenever I need a fix. lol

Got the ship out again to take another look, and post some imgs of the bottom. There are some kinds of fantail treatment present. Kinda reminds me of the same treatments on the Excelsior, only with bulkheads over the opening.

This view highlights for me the possible cetacean influence on this design.

Thanks!

I really need to get caught up in the modern modeling gargon.

What does "Low Observables" stand for? For the bottom of the ship? lol

I do see some decals there I didn't have, but that ship kicked my ass with a ton of them already. I'd be hard pressed to add more, and I could only add them where they would not cover present decals.

I do have another kit though... No. I cannot. I am behind building what I have and time is more pressed now.

I do want to give you a special sneak peek at my current projects, and thank you again for your tilting hint. It really works. Enjoy!

It’s a technical term for “stealth.” The intent seems to be these would be spy-ships painted black or dark gray (it would’ve been nice if there was a completed model or rendering communicating exactly what kind of color scheme these decals are meant for).

I like the sound of that. My own S31 ship. Painted space black, with only minimal decals and pops of dark paint. Hmm....

Would Section 31 ships even have markings? I seem to think they wouldn't do that.

random thought for model building model kits of famous actresses. Sorry was watching too many youtubes and found one where they were building an anime girl from a model kit

Depends on which ship you're looking at, this one has letters/numbers on saucer edge.

Another ship, on MA, looked free from any markings.

The decal sheet does come with multiple, unused name/number options so perhaps scrambling them to create a crazy new registry with personal meaning. Also, I'd add basic mechanical or personnel use decals.

That does look sweet.....Might have to look into getting one I love the Section ships

My Dad really shaved the back of the dorsal down--and leaned it even farther back and sat the saucer lower down, so the nacelles didn't crowd the saucer as much--but that was major surgery.
