I'd miss the companionship of an animal, but things like this make me not want to have anymore because of the pain of losing them is too much.

That was exactly how i felt when we had to put our 16-1/2 yr old westie down. I went exactly three weeks without a dog when i decided i had to get another one, stat. The house was so empty without one. So, after looking, we found one. And then, not too long afterwards, another one. I can't imagine life without my two knuckleheads now!

No matter what I say now, it'll prolly be the same for me.

I've always had cats around since I was a child, so I don't think I'll be able to come home to an empty house for long. I do have another cat, but she is only a year younger.

Almost 17 years is a decent life span. I hope my two can at least live that long.

As you just talk about pets. This is my darling "Maximiliane". The picture got taken around 3 weeks ago. She still looks well for her age, doesn´t she? (15 1/2 years old)
However she starts getting weaker every day and there are not many other moments I am really scared experiencing, but the moment when she will die (and somehow I have the feeling this will be either still this year or early next year).
