Well, I loved it. Rainbow Dash was awesome and I loved the fanclub. Didn't like how quickly Ponyville dropped Rainbow as their official hero in favour of the newcomer, but that's a minor complaint.

I liked it, too. I think Rainbow Dash isolated herself with her behaviour. I mean, she even started risking the lives of those she was set to save (and her own, too) due to her antics. the little scene with Scootaloo shows that people still cared about her but she was unable to overcome her grudge with the 'Mare-Do-Well'.
I wonder whether our band of super heros will stay in business, considering Ponyville seems to be a gigantic death trap. ;)

A huge contrivance that hyped up the stupidity of Ponyville to just unbelievable levels making it an utter death trap that Dash was the only ones stopping them all walking to their deaths was bad enough.

Having the other 5 become jealous and create a masked vigilanty group endorsed by the town, playing on everyone, creating a dependancy, doing exactly what they bashed Dash for, isolating her, lying to her, rubbing it right in her face, breaking her down emotionally until she thought she was outright abandoned, the way the town forgot all about her saving the lives of their children and loved ones at the drop of a hat to a masked stranged stranger was just...holy crap.

I'm being generous with giving it a C. Then again next week it's Rarity again so, 2x07 then skip to 2x10...

They weren't jealous, they were out to teach their friend a lesson about humility. Dash, as awesome as she is, was becoming a danger to herself and others by letting her ego get so large as to consume her. Dashie's not the most humble of ponies, but she is loyal and faithful, and always has the best of intentions. She just got carried away, and it was up to her friends to bring her back down to Equestria before she did something really foolish just to prove herself.

I loved the episode, and gave it an "A". I was surprised to see that the Mysterious Mare Do Well were all of the other Mane 6 instead of just one pony (I thought it was Twilight). There were some great Dash moments in the episode, and I loved seeing all Mane 6 (plus Spike) involved together. :D

If they were trying to teach Rainbow Dash about humility, why did the Mysterious Mare show up for her "You're so awesome" party?

And having some "super awesome superhero" shit all around town, what happens the next time Ponies are in mortal danger? "oh sorry, just trollin' our best friend.".

Whaaaaaaaa? :wtf:

So Rainbow Dash would be envious. They had to get her to realize how overinflated her ego had become, which worked. She started questioning herself and after she hit rock bottom, found out the truth about it all, and so her lesson was learned.

The Mane 6 have a history of saving the entirety of Equestria. I highly doubt they've stopped doing these things, we just don't get to see their lives 24/7.

Sorry but having saved the known world and half the population from their own idiocy entitles her a few short days of hype and attention. Her friends could at least give her that, they put up with a lot more from Rarity on a constant basis and she does nothing.

Well, it's that her ego became hyperinflated. Dashie's always loved attention, and she was getting adoring fans from her exploits, and as always, Dashie will ratchet up the challenge. The problem is that she started to cause problems, and in her efforts to be heroic, neglected to actually save the ponies she was trying to impress.

In essence, she went from helping ponies because it was the right thing to do, and "helping" ponies because it was getting her recognition. Her motives were no longer pure.

And when her friends tried to "help", it sent thing way overboard and made the situation worse, that was hardly a good thing.

But how was that supposed to work? They never planned on Rainbow Dash unmasking them and learning the error of her ways then. I think they were just trying to torture her and came up with that "we're trying to teach you a lesson" thing when they were caught.

Okay, not really, but it was a pretty dumb plan.

^It all hinged on whether they were planning to unmask themselves during the ceremony, which it seems they weren't. Like I said, they were acting pretty douchy and suspiciously the entire time.

Before the Mysterious Mare Do Well had stepped in, Dashie was already getting too self inflated. If the Mare Do Well wouldn't have saved the pony in the balloon, she may have been injured, as Dash didn't keep it from slamming into the ground. So she was already becoming negligent in her search for recognition.

Sure they did. They knew Dashie would eventually want to know who this masked pony was, and that's why she showed up at the celebration, so Dashie's envy would boil over and she'd have to find out.

The lesson they had for her is that fame is fleeting, and if you only do thing for recognition, eventually someone will come along and steal your thunder, and what would you have left? Whereas if you do good for the sole purpose of it being the right thing to do, those accomplishments end up meaning more than just a little fleeting fame. Dashie learned that lesson, and no one was hurt.

Did they get help from David Xanatos planning that out?
