MLB Talk - 2010 Season

CC was on fire tonight. Didn't give up a hit until like the 8th inning. Unlike the Rays whose pitchers were giving up walks left and right...

MLB.TV's on the fritz again so I didn't catch the Mets/Nats game. :brickwall:

is mlb.tv the online streaming of ball games? Does it work well? I wanted to get it but the website mentioned how they would black out local games. Seeing as how I live in NYC and want to watch Yankee games, it seems a tad retarded to me

There's other ways of watching baseball online... I'm not sure if the link would be considered 100% kosher to post here, though, so PM me if you're interested.

Nice to see the Jays getting off to a good start. I think the fact that expectations are "82 wins, if we're lucky" is probably helping them out a bit, no pressure is always nice. I don't expect this to last, but winning ball clubs are more fun than losing ones. ;)

^ so who is replacing Joe Nathan as closer?
John Rauch is the Twins closer. He's loooked a bit shaky at times, but he's picked up every save opportunity and leads the league in saves.

Great to see the Twins doing so well, especially considering their schedule at the start of the season. I wasn't expecting them to do so well on the road (must have been thinking of the Wild, who always sucked on the road).

That was an amazing game-ending catch in the outfield by Willie Harris yesterday. I mean, the game, until the last few seconds, could have gone either way. Me thinks Jon Stewart will be a little depressed come Monday, especially if the Mets don't win today's game.

*The* Jon Stewart? I didn't know he was a Mets fan.

And, IMHO, K-Rod was right in being pissed at Willie Harris. Look, if the hitter doesn't want to get out of the way, you take your hit, get to first base, and SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Had a chance to go to the Target Field opener today, but the guy that asked me is a total loser and I decided I wasn't quite that desperate.

Well, just acquired some tickets to the April 14th game against the Angels and the April 17th game against Texas. It'll be my first time at the new Yankee Stadium *sniff*

Turned on ESPN to see what Target field looked like and it looks nice. Have to wonder though what to expect during the Playoffs in October or just any old night game. Didn't they create the walkways in Minnesota because it always got so cold? Still, looking forward to going to see it for myself hopefully in the new few years. At least I know Mauer will still be a Twin by the time I make a trip there. Always liked Joe Mauer.

Field looks nice, but I already have my first complaint! The left field foul pole needs to be repainted. Had a disputed HR call today (it was foul, after a few replays), but they have the traditional yellow foul pole, but the geniuses in charge of planning put that yellow/tan limestone behind it, so the foul pole isn't distinctive like it's supposed to be, but disappears right into the background. Going to need to either paint it, or do something with the backdrop, doesn't work as-is...
