MLB Talk - 2010 Season

Garrett Jones has hit two home runs in his first two at bats for the Pirates. I guess he's already trade bait.

Yeah, Pittsburgh can't keep him around, he's a bad influence on the rest of team.

The Rockies just won... I'm cautiously optimistic this season...

Beckett officially re-upped for 4 more years. Gotta love a rotation that includes Beckett, Lester, Lackey, and Buchholz under team control until 2014 (with Dice-K through 2012). Increases the chances that Buchholz gets another look as the trade piece for a bat, but as of right now, that's a pretty good rotation to have locked in for the forseeable future :)
Niiiiice.

I am absolutely shocked. Berry Zito had a great outing tonight. Who knew he had it in him. Hopefully the Giants can learn how to score more than 3 runs a game, but that is major nitpicking at this point. ;) Still, good win and the Giants are one of the best teams in baseball. :D

So far Beckett and Lester didnt look great...despite the 1-1 record.

I didn't realize that game was on MLBN. I managed to catch a stream of some of that.

And... sorry Orioles fans. You have a hack of a closer in Mike Gonzalez.

Guess we should cut them both, then? Kinda a small sample size to make any sort of judgement, no? Heck, Sebathia and Burnett didn't look any better, Yanks should probably fire them as well

Even after the two of them put up fairly mediocre first starts, I'd be willing to bet that you could probably find 29 or so other teams that would trade for them in a heartbeat. Hell, at this point, Youkilis is on track to hit .571 for the season, Pedroia is line up for 81 HRs, and V-Mart should have about 243 RBIs by the time we're done.

Should probably not read too much into 2 games in a 162 game schedule.

So glad I can watch the MLB network now instead of listening about trivial Tiger Woods stuff all day.

Every time somebody mentions Kevin Youkilis I must point out that whenever he comes up to bat, I half expect him to start foaming at the mouth. Dude looks seriously MEAN. Except for that little dance he does..

First three games of the season and I can safely say I'm impressed with the Giants. I don't expect this kind of productivity all season, but if there can be some semblance of consistency, that's always a good thing. 19 hits so far, Rentaria having a day, and the only bad thing is Cain isn't going to get the win. Other than that, good series in Houston and I'm looking forward to the first series at AT&T, especially against a better team and the rising Rookie. Lincecum/Hayward on Sunday. That will be fun.

IF the Giants could play Houston in Houston more often it would work well for them.

Way to go Yanks! Off to a better start this year! Granderson rocks! :techman:

Mets/Fish are tied, bottom of the 9th...hope the Mets can pull this off...

I think the ump overreacted in warning both benches like that. It's obvious that neither pitcher was deliberately trying to hit people. Jeter even joked about it to Youkilis as he passed first base.
