It doesn't matter how often they're wrong, in 24 hours people will have moved onto something else. But if they ever get it right, they'll just ride that win forever.

If you post 40 different stories about Tom Cruise being cast as such-and-such superhero, one of them will eventually be right.

The following is causing quite the stir among fans and some in the industry...

From Variety - Aug 21, 2025 7:00am PT:

Disney’s Boy Trouble: Studio Seeks Original IP to Win Back Gen-Z Men Amid Marvel, Lucasfilm Struggles
Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty aren’t the only ones looking for a prince.

Leadership at Walt Disney Studios has been pressing Hollywood creatives in recent months, multiple sources tell Variety, for movies that will bring young men back to the brand in a meaningful way. “Young men” is defined here by sources as ages 13-28, aka Gen Z.

The sources say Disney has been seeking new IP and pitches such as splashy global adventures and treasure hunts, as well as seasonal fare like films for the Halloween corridor. The calls come as the Star Wars machine struggles to produce any film project and the superhero genre sheds audiences by the minute.

This is the same Disney whose multibillion-dollar content engines, Marvel and Lucasfilm, have sated men of all ages over almost two decades since the company acquired them. The sources say Disney has been seeking new IP and pitches such as splashy global adventures and treasure hunts, as well as seasonal fare like films for the Halloween corridor. The calls come as the Star Wars machine struggles to produce any film project and the superhero genre sheds audiences by the minute.

Much has been written about the narrowing audience for superhero movies. The performance of Marvel’s latest release, “Fantastic Four: First Steps,” which aimed to launch yet another superhero franchise led by Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby, failed to meet expectations. That’s despite good reviews, a promising opening weekend and the full attention of Marvel czar Kevin Feige.

Much more in the article, but its high time sources such as Variety have shined a light on what was once considered social media bickering or questions about what is--or is not attracting audiences, and other matters noted in the quotes above.

Gen Z boys think Homelander is a hero.

Not really. They know he is meant to be the bad guy. They do understand though he is the most interesting and compelling character on the show. Also the character has some sympathetic traits due to how he was created in a lab and mistreated and treated like a corporate prop. They aren't so stupid as to think a Hollywood show would actually make a show just for them. They know how liberals look at them.

"South Park" did fool them though to a degree. Granted they have always known "South Park" wasn't right wing but they saw it as a show that makes fun of both sides, which is true. But they are obliviously as to why Trump is getting so much hate. They refuse to see just how awful Trump has been, to a point where he has earned the level of contempt "South Park" has given him. That "Trump" is operating on a level of regular shitty behavior beyond what we all expect from our regular politicians.

What is kind of funny is watching the cope. "They never made fun of Biden." Ignoring the fact the show only had like 16 episodes and 5 specials his entire time in office and nothing new coming out towards the end when the Biden scam was exposed during that debate. If it was on I am sure they would have ripped him a new one because Biden and his people really looked bad in that moment. They also just pretend all the other stuff making fun of liberals just didn't happen.

They never made fun of Biden because they do really try to go after folks they think are phonies. For all his problems, Biden never came off as a phony to them so they left him alone

I agree for the most part. Biden is someone that was for the most part was hard to make jokes about. You basically have one bit with him not being able to talk well because of his age. But the fact the Democrats tried to cover that up and actual get a second term out of him I think would have been something they would have gone hard on. I think they would maybe target the people around him more than just him.

Harris was even harder to make fun of. She was basically hidden away for four years and did nothing and nobody paid attention until she was all of sudden running for President and then flopped hard. But of course they weren't doing episodes during that election so they missed all of it. Not that I think they care. I think they generally don't like doing stuff about politics. They like to make fun of people who seem very insecure or who can't take a joke and basically take themselves to seriously. Trump and the people working for him are all of those things in high doses.
