I can understand why Marvel would want to make their own take on Blade that stands apart from the original trilogy, but I still think this may have been a little short-sighted of them:

The guy who co-wrote Man of Steel/Batman v Superman, wrote/directed Blade Trinity and once said that she-Hulk was created to give Hulk someone to fuck (fun fact, this comment was so terrible Stan Lee himself specifically responded to it saying that anyone who thought that was a nut) is not someone Disney/Marvel should hire to clean their toilets, much less make a movie.

I think the movie will be good, but I already really dislike this version of The Thing. His voice is lame, the CG looks a bit off, his costume looks the worst on him (although they all look mediocre) and whining about not wanting to say his iconic line is just stupid. I bet he doesn't have an Aunt Petunia or blue eyes, either. Totally missing everything that people like about the character, while taking the angsty angle that honestly hasn't been more then a background element of Thing for decades and making it his main characteristic (just like Fant4stic, but presumably without the parental physical abuse). Also, does anyone else think that the actor playing Johnny looks like Mark Zuckerberg?

Still Silver Surfer looks/sounds cool, I'm excited for a real Galactus in general and Reed/Sue seem fine, so the movie could easily end up being the best FF movie, even though I don't think it will be anywhere near as good of a FF movie as they could have made.

Has no one noticed The Thing has a beard?!?!?! Earlier in the trailer he doesn't, and at the end of the trailer he does!
Which seems to indicate what people have thought for a while now, that this movie takes place over, well atleast months, if not longer. At some point it was said Sue was pregnant, but this baby is definitely a few months old already.

You're entirely wrong. Everything about this portrayal - his appearance, his voice, his attitude - is note-perfect. People who've really loved the character over the decades will be thrilled with him in this movie.

Fantastic trailer! I'm super excited for this film, more so than Thunderbolts* (even though I'm in the minority about that film). It just looks so damn fun and uplifting. Plus, it really does think like different and refreshing for Marvel and that can only be a good thing (speaking even as someone who is largely a defender of most of the MCU).

I was just about to come here to say the same thing! I don't think I've ever seen The Thing depicted with a rocky beard but I really like the look. Hopefully it's not a one-off appearance. :D

They better make "its clobbering time" worth it.
I love how it's not his actual catchphrase but something from "just the cartoon." I really hope we get to see glimpses of that cartoon. :D

There are scenes where Quinn's delivery reminds me of RDJ.

I find it ironic that they've incorporated HERBIE into their retro '60s-styled FF movie, given that the character wasn't created until the 1978 animated series.

It looks like Sue is pregnant with Franklin when the Silver Surfer first appears and then has given birth before Galactus arrives.
That's a long time to prepare a defense.

He also wrote the entire Batman Begins trilogy but never worked on BvS.
Off-hand comments from 30 years ago shouldn't bar anyone from getting a job, if that was the case then James Gunn shouldn't have been given the reigns of DC.
Goyer's more hits than misses, and it's not like Marvel has better writers nowadays.

You can like this version of Thing if you want, but you can't even remotely argue that he's perfect, and you don't get to say what people who loved him for years would think. He doesn't have the accent, he doesn't have the attitude, and he's literally whining about saying one of the most iconic phrases in comics. He doesn't resemble any version of the character in personality, except the Fant4stic version a little bit.

Even the angsty Thing of early Lee/Kirby comics had more personality to him, and he grew out of the really angsty bit fairly quickly.

David S. Goyer did co-write BvS, I don't know why you're saying he didn't. The incomplete MAX "Details" section only list Terrio, but the actual movie has a "Written By: Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer" credit, its in the opening flashback/dream sequence during the part where Kid Bruce is getting lifted out of the cave by bats (yes, I did rewatch the opening section/credits of Batman V Superman to check this, so that no one could argue that Wikipedia or imdb were wrong about Goyer being a co-writer).

His She-Hulk comments were around 2014, so about 11 years ago and in between TDK and TDK Rises so he wasn't some young punk talking shit, he was an adult with very prominent work to his name. Also, and this is more personal taste, I don't think that the Dark Knight trilogy is particularly well written.

He definitely doesn't have "more hits then misses", though. He's at least partially responsible for Blade Trinity, Crow: City of Angels, Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Jumper (which made money but was not critically successful and was just bad in general), the Unborn and (the arguably also awful, but admittedly more of a mixed response) Terminator: Dark Fate.

Also listed as an executive producer.

Thanks for the review. I'm now convinced that I'm going to love this movie!

Marvel and DC should have released their movies on the same day and cross promoted. HERBIE playing with Krypto!

Yes I do, just as you get to make extravagantly negative claims with no good foundation. I've read and loved these characters since their beginnings, long before you were born, so...yeah, I get to say what I think about that, too.

"Doesn't have the accent?" What were you watching? He doesn't talk like a cartoon caricature of someone from the Bronx, that's true. Dude's been places.

He's perfect.

Most recently, the Thing grew a beard in 2012’s Fantastic Four #605 by Jonathan Hickman and Ron Garney. Hickman’s influential Fantastic Four run inspired the Future Foundation in First Steps, but in the future-set issue, a time-traveling Reed Richards and his father made a visit to a futuristic New York City in the year 3012. In this possible future, Ben had lived a thousand years due to taking a serum enabling him to revert to his human form one week a year — during which is the only time he aged. The bearded Ben Grimm was still alive by the years 4012 and 5012, and by the time he died in 6012 A.D., still had a lengthy beard.

I realize it's comics accurate, but The Thing having a beard raise so many questions. Like, does he still get head hair and shave it off? How the hell does he shave it off? How does he get the hair trimmed in the little cracks between his armor plates?
