Did not see this coming!

Yes x 1000! I've said the MCU should bring Spider-Man's 70s comics grit and intensity and raising the stakes for Spider-Man by adding the Punisher to his MCU films, and its finally happened. This is one of the most promising MCU developments in several years. All I can hope is that the adaptation does not include the Jackal (and his most famous storyline).

Finally, the potential for a strong MCU Spider-Man movie!

I gotta a bad feeling about this

Kane and Romita (on Romita's design for the Punisher's costime) - one of the most pefect artist pairings in superhero comics history.

That is not a character I was expecting for that movie. It could be kind of fun to see him getting involved in some of the more sci-fi kind of stuff we've gotten in the first three. The article mentioned one or more Hulks could show up, and it could be fun to see how Frank would deal with one of them.
Last Spidey movie was pretty crowded so I hope this time they don't do the same.

I've been interested in seeing Punisher in a Spidey movie for a long time. Here's a post of mine from 2011:

I really want to see Punisher as a Spider-Man villain - the ultimate older cynic versus the ultimate fresh-faced humanist/optimist. Now that Marvel Studios has the rights to him, I suppose that isn't too likely, but he's not proven to be the most lucrative character either, so it might not be the end of the world if Sony rented him for a single flick. Amazing Spider-Man 2, anyone?

Anyhow, I hope this movie doesn't make Castle too sympathetic or heroic. From what I saw in Daredevil S2 and have read since, stuff like Daredevil: Born Again hasn't dared to make him a clear villain (no matter how well-intentioned).

"Frank. If your going to fight with me your going to need a suit "Spidey says. "Cut to a door to Spidey's secret hideout opening. In comes the Punisher wearing a Iron Man suit, but with his trademark skull on the chest area and the song "Bad to the Bone" from George Thorogood and The Destroyers" playing over the scene. "Looking good, my man, Now lets go kicks some Mephisto ass and teach him that nobody messes with New York." Spidey says with a smile as he puts on his Tony Stark sunglasses and kicks start the Spider-Cycle.

I can understand why Marvel would want to make their own take on Blade that stands apart from the original trilogy, but I still think this may have been a little short-sighted of them:
