Just speaking with friends and colleagues there is some superhero fatigue around for sure. the "novelty" also has worn off.

I don't get that, because the MCU series are all so different. "Superhero" is a very broad label, since comics are so eclectic that they include just about every imaginable genre. For instance, Shang-Chi felt so much like a wuxia kung fu movie that I almost forgot it was a Marvel movie -- I mean, good grief, large portions of it are in Mandarin -- while Multiverse of Madness is a straight-up Sam Raimi horror movie. And shows like Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel have their own distinctive creative voices and approaches thanks to the diversity of the creators Marvel is hiring. They may all fall under the "superhero" rubric, but they're as eclectic as anything in TV today. I mean, I never expected a superhero TV show to tackle the painful legacy of the 1947 Partition of India and Pakistan.

I get that Phase 4 doesn't have a through line, and is more about setting up the new pieces on the table for later use. But one thing I do wish was that the "ancienty secrety otherworldly do da's" of Eternals, Shang-Chi, Moon Knight and Ms Marvel, were a lot more connected. Even if just with little nods and winks, "that connects slightly to this, this is a little reference to that, etc" and so on. Even the gods thing with Thor: Love & Thunder too.
I think that would have helped link it all together more, as it is barely feels like those five projects take place in the same universe at all.

Honestly, I find the MCU franchise is just about the most reliably entertaining franchise out there. Maybe not the best, but I trust them at this point. I've found even their weakest movies at least fine, and - aside from Inhumans and Iron Fist season 1 - the same goes for their TV shows.

If they want to waste money on a sequel to their worst movie that also under performed at the box office, they deserve what they get. I wouldn't even waste my time watching an Eternals sequel on Disney Plus.

I see that as a feature, not a bug. I mean, most series nominally set in the real world exist independently of each other. If there's a wide range of unrelated things happening to different people in the MCU, it helps it feel more like the actual universe it purports to be.

The great thing about a shared universe is that it isn't all the same and you don't even have to like every part of it. Each part has its own focus and appeal and its own target audience, and some people (like me) might be willing to watch it all and follow the interconnections, but others might be content just to watch one or two series and still get a complete experience. It's good for a franchise to appeal to more than one audience, to let each series be its own different thing and have the connections be a bonus that supplements the parts rather than overshadowing them. Different people have different tastes, after all, and so offering a wide variety is more democratic, more inclusive. That was always the strength of the Marvel and DC Comics universes, that incredibly eclectic nature that included everything from gritty crime drama to space opera to Lovecraftian horror to romance to sword and sorcery to zany comedy.

Granted, there are times when the lack of overt connection does feel more like a disconnect of realities -- for instance, having a giant stone hand sticking out of the Earth's crust should have altered the planet's rotational balance and caused worldwide disasters and climate shifts, yet nobody's even mentioned it. (Unless Eternals is set after the other shows/films. The only reference I've seen is Kamala and Kamran talking about Kingo's movies.) So there are some places where a bit more consistency/interconnection would be appreciated.

Because the plotting of that phase is so loose, only marginally linked to the other films by Easter Eggs and teases, but the actual stories never feel like a linked universe with some meaning to characters and their motives, and has not been the case since phase 1.

Every Marvel comic doesn't tie into every other Marvel comic so I'm not sure why people expect the movies to have to.

If we didn't now know that there actually will be an Eternals 2, I'd be more worried about the technology turning up in other movies/series going nowhere but presumably it'll all lead to there.

Well, I've never posted about Ms. Marvel after it released, and its the only MCU thing I've skipped completely so far, so it looks like I'm perfectly capable of not posting about something and you're just full of it

Also, I'll post about whatever I want, if you don't like it go make your own forum where you make the rules then you can make people do what you want.

Really? I don't. I haven't felt that way about the MCU in over half a decade. I don't know if there is any franchise I would regard as reliably entertaining. At least not anymore. All of them have been a hit-or-miss to me . . . or just a miss.

We've gotten a picture of the Daredevil costume in She-Hulk, I think it's just a still from the trailer, but it does give us a chance to take a closer look.
The one thing that really stands out is that the helmet looks a bit more metallic, but other than it looks pretty much the same.
The IGN article in the link talks about there being gold in it, but I don't think it's actually gold, I think it's just the reflection of the light.

Nope, the article is correct. They are doing an homage to Daredevil's original yellow and red costume from his first issue.

I'm all for that possibility. I've loved everything he's done from Homicide: Life on the Streets to The Mandalorian to, of course, Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. He's best known for playing villains but I would love to see him play a hero.

From the bit we can see I think the new Daredevil costume looks cool, a nice homage to his first comic look without going too far. Hopefully we'll never have to see the stupid black pajamas ever again, now that the people in charge of the character aren't people who are embarrassed by superhero costumes like the Marvel TV people were.

So I wonder who else from the old Marvel TV stuff can show up with a more superhero look. Maybe a more comic accurate Deathlok? A version of Hellstrom that gets to be shirtless with a cape and gets to keep the second "L" in his name? An MCU version of the (current comic version of) Iron Fist? Literally any other Inhuman (imagine Medusa, Gorgon or Triton in a project with a budget higher then $5.25 an episode)? Its interesting to think about.

That said, Marvel TV did get the Reyes Ghost Rider right, he's someone I'd really like to see pop up in the MCU (although I'm also fine with Nic Cage or a version of Dan Ketch)

I like that actor a lot, but I feel like 64 is a bit older then they'd want to go with Professor X. Even if they introduce the "core" X-Men as adults who were tained by Professor X, they could do that with someone in their mid-40s on up. Then again Patrick Stewart was around 62 when he first played the role, so who knows. Maybe after having younger Xavier/Magneto in the last few FOX movies, they'll want to go back to older versions of the characters.

Oh yes. Xavier works best when we're not really sure what his true intentions are and we know there is something he is not telling. Esposito has the talent to be a great Professor X.

I’m totally okay with them casting someone else as Charles. I was miffed back in the day when they cast McAvoy because he looks nothing like a young Sir Patrick (they don’t even have the same eye color) and I thought they were trying to replace Sir Patrick with a younger dude for the audience to fawn over. I got away from that opinion when I saw how Sir Patrick embraced McAvoy’s presence and also when they made DOFP, which still remains my favorite X Men movie.

But now the situation is different in the first place - this is a new universe and a new Charles. And I don’t see why they shouldn’t cast someone else if they feel they have to. I wish the new Charles the best of luck. (I won’t be mad if I don’t have to keep track of all the Marvel promotion stuff anymore, to be honest, I just have no interest whatsoever in Marvel as a franchise. lol)
