Not even going to click on that obviously clickbait bullshit.

Captain Marvel made 1.1 billion dollars on a budget of less than 200 million. Any suggestion that Disney - at this point in time - won't continue with the character under any circumstances short of 'Brie Larson dies in freak accident' or 'Brie Larson convicted of murder' is plainly idiotic.

Wake me up when they have a "source" other than cosmicbooknews. Pretty much everything they ever say about the movie is misogynistic clickbait garbage, and I don't expect this to be any different. In their review of the movie, which they called "misandric", they claim that the fact that Nick Fury is seen doing the dishes is an affront to manly men everywhere.

Yeah, there's no way I'm going to take a story seriously when it's original source, even before Cosmic Book News, is some random Youtuber. The article gives absolutely no reason to believe this person knows what the hell they're talking about.

This is great. I agree that absolutely nobody should click on that monetized clickbait link from we got this covered. However, everybody should click on this Inverse link, which is not about the Captain Marvel rumors themselves, which Inverse finds offensive, but rather about the sources of the rumors and how they have agendas that should not be trusted.

I didn't realize that the original YouTube source was "doomcock", who I am already familiar with as being one of the most prevalent purveyors of anti Star Trek Discovery conspiracy claptrap on the internet. It's great to me that the two greatest things to come out of doomcock and cosmicbooknews have been articles written by people on other sites calling them out for their nonsense.

I didn't realize that was Doomcock, I've heard references to him before. He really sounds like just an absolutely horrible person, or at least his online persona is.

Why do people hate her so much? I really don't get it. I don't think I've seen a promo piece or interview where she wasn't delightfully charming. And, frankly, I think her performance has been one of the better of the franchise.

It also seems to me like the people who seem to complain about her the most were those who - not so long ago - were the most eager to spew internet verbal masturbation over her performance of the Metric song in Pilgrim.

Is it because she's French?

It's because she's the first woman to headline a Marvel film, and misogynists can't stand that. You see the same hate and smear campaigns against the female leads in other franchises, like Rey in Star Wars or Burnham on Discovery or the Thirteenth Doctor.

Thor is going to be the only guy in the movie. WAAAAAHHHHHH (Sarcasm)
I really hope the rumors about Jaimie Alexander are true, I liked Sif a lot in the first two Thors and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I'm not sure if I believe that considering her past statements, but it does make sense considering the way Ragnarok was structured.

I kinda half believe it. I mean, yeah she was clearly not all that interested in coming back unless they had something interesting for her to do (fair enough) and the story they wanted to tell for Ragnarok didn't really have a logical place to put her within the plot. So rather than trying to talk her back into a minor supporting role or cameo, they just wrote her out. Which works for the story since it continues the strip Thor of people he loves, which is a thread that continues through TR and onto AIW & AEG.

So yes her absence was to serve the story, but the story was also in part shaped by her absence.

^Emma Peel was the co-star of a male lead. We're talking about female-led series and the way some pathetic types today act offended by their existence.

But there were at least a couple of female-led shows in the '60s, Honey West and The Girl from UNCLE. They did tend to play up their leads' femininity, though, and I gather that TGfU's lead wasn't very strong and was rather dependent on her male co-star to carry the action (I'm not sure, since I haven't seen the show as far as I recall).
