Not really surprising after all this time, but New Warriors is officially dead.

I'm confused. Squirrel Girl was in it, and Squirrel Girl is canonically Unbeatable. So how could her show be defeated?

Ah, but wait. Milana Vayntrub's casting as SG in this pilot led to her voicing SG in Marvel Rising. So, in true Squirrel Girl fashion, she found a lateral path to victory. Her record is unbroken!

I mean, I find it somewhat amusing that after the original New Warriors ongoing ended, the "Heroes for the 90s" never managed to get a long-running anything again :D

Honestly, I remember reading some New Warriors issues because they crossed over with something else I was reading and the comic was just terrible. Probably some of the least interesting, least well-written characters in Marvel Comics.

I don't think it's exactly a coincidence that Marvel chose them as the sacrificial lamb to be completely and utterly destroyed by their own stupidity at the start of Civil War (and ruined their reputation as heroes to boot).

Squirrel Girl was the only draw this hypothetical series had, but she'd be better off in a different project, anyway.

I read some early New Warriors, mostly because I'm a pretty big fan of Nova (who's a massive, unlikeable douche in the 90s), and I thought it was pretty mixed. They had some good ideas and their longer story arcs were mostly decent, like Vance going to jail, but a lot of the other stuff was meh. Also, I found the annual crossovers with other titles to be pretty unreadable.

I find it interesting how Marvel and DC have these titles that had surprisingly long runs, like New Warriors (75 issues) and Alpha Flight (130 issues!), that somehow, despite that success, left pretty much no footprint on the fandom landscape whatsoever.

I mean, by point of comparison, before Geoff John's mega-successful Aquaman relaunch in the 2000s, the character's longest run before cancellation due to low sales was only ever 60-something issues. Yet clearly, even before 2000, there's no doubt who was the much bigger character.

Tom Hiddleston was on Colbert last night and he talked about Loki. Or rather what he couldn't talk about. He also briefly talked about a funny moment on the set of The Avengers with Chris Hemsworth.

Unconfirmed 'movement' on the future of the Netflix characters and relationship with Marvel TV :

"Marvel Studios and Marvel Television – who never previously worked together – have apparently finally put aside their differences, which is why the latter may be allowed to continue the Netflix series as they were on a new platform. What with this newfound partnership, Kevin Feige is said to have an overseeing role on the shows going forward."

Probably BS, but one can hope...

So Jeph Loeb is finally getting with the program? Good.

Unfortunately, I've found We Got This Covered to not be an entirely reliable source. So, unfortunately for me, if I'm going to not trust them for stories I don't like, I have to not trust them with stories I would otherwise very much like to see happen.

Wasn't there some clause in the Netflix contract that said that Marvel legally cannot use those characters for at least two years after cancellation? Admittedly it's already been almost a year since half of them were cancelled with the other half only 6 months or so behind, so I can seen them getting back in production before too long.
