A bit late to the party, but a few thoughts on the SDCC announcements, in random order:
*While I'm glad that the
Hawkeye show will introduce Kate Bishop to the MCU, I wonder if there might be a risk that, should she be "promoted" to a future movie project, those who see her for the first time there rather than on Disney+ would miss out on important details regarding her character, or at least that which will be created for her on Earth-199999 rather than over on Earth-616.
*Speaking of Earth-616, that universe's Shang-Chi is currently teamed up with other superheroes from across Asia in the
New Agents of ATLAS; he's
in those comics as part of the team, and is mentoring the more recently-added Chinese hero Lin Lie in the
Sword Master comic series. Going forward, rather than adding him to the Avengers roster, I'd be much more interested in seeing an MCU equivalent of the Agents of ATLAS form up; with the likes of Sword Master,
Aero, Wave, and Luna Snow (who, along with other South Korean characters featured in the
Marvel Future Fight smartphone game,
will be given a stand-alone intro comic in October) added to the mix. And, while I don't expect it to happen, a nod to
Kim's Convenience would be great to see!
*So far as Jane Foster goes, I also wonder if the long-term plan might be to see MCU Jane become (a) Valkyrie after a stint as Mighty Thor, inspired by the story arc currently playing out in the new
Valkyrie: Jane Foster comic. Well, so long as it doesn't involve losing Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie in the process. ("Valkyrie" is more of a job title than a code-name, so two or more of them existing at the same time would not be without precedent by any means.)
