Count me in with those who aren't thrilled with Jane Foster becoming the new Thor. For me, it is a couple of major reasons:

Jane is a scientist, and really would be more drawn to that than the warrior aspect...i would see her at being fascinated by someone alien, and staring in wonder, before being clobbered by said alien.

We also have Valkyrie and Lady Sif, who would be FAR MORE logical choices. And i am more inclined for Tessa Thompson... would love to see diversity...especially if it makes sense (such as Sam Wilson as MCU Captain AMerica)

Also, Jane just doesn't have a story arc, fr me, which supports such a journey. I mean, Pepper Potts as Iron Maiden would make far more logical sense.

i had avoided the 1st Thor movie because i thought it would be stupid...but this sub-franchise has been a delight for me...so i am definitely willing to see what Thor 4 is like.

I rather doubt Foster is in it for 5 minutes. That would be pretty shitty bait and switch.

I’m sure Foster/Mighty Thor will be a major part of it.
Oh, yeah I know, I was just going to an extremely unlikely example to show how little we know about the movie.

Yeah, totally. You can't have a character be a scientist AND a fighty/punchy type hero. It'd be unprecedented!

...Oh hey there Tony, Bruce, Peter, Hank, Hope, Shuri....Rocket. ;)

Jane being a scientist has nothing whatsoever to do with her being "worthy" of being the MCU's Mighty Thor, so that 'objection' is just silly.

Also, the only way it makes sense for her not to be the Mighty Thor in an adaptation of the comic of the same name (in which she starred) is if they hadn't been able to get Natalie back, and it's not a 'slight' to Tessa Thompson in any way.

Hell, we've now got Savage Avengers where Conan and the Punisher are charter characters!

That kinda makes more sense than usual, nomenclaturally speaking. I mean, the term "avenger" applies more to someone seeking revenge than someone fighting for justice or saving the world, so it's always struck me as rather inappropriate for the usual superhero team. It makes more sense as a label for violent, vengeful characters like the Punisher and Conan. Not that I find that kind of character or storytelling appealing at all, but the name just seems to fit better.

Wasn't Sabretooth an Avenger once? What was that about?
I don't recall him being an Avenger but, if I had to guess, it would have been post-AXIS when everyone was inverted. Either that or maybe Osborne's Dark Avengers but I think they sued Daken there.

Speaking of flaws: while I haven't read the run on Mighty Thor, I did thumb through one of them a while back and I recall it being a fairly significant revelation that when she reverts back, it turns out Jane is now a late stage cancer patient. I wonder if they'll go full on with adapting that or pull back from it?
On the one hand, playing a terminal cancer patient with super powers and all the pathos that implies seems like the kind of part that really would tempt Portman back...on the other hand it's Taika Waititi.
One of the *very few* problems I had with Ragnarok is that it swerved from comedy to tragedy a little too sharply and it sometimes undercut the drama a little more that it probably should. I mean Thor had to wait until two Avengers movies later to really confront the emotional fallout of the last few years.

So perhaps they'll streamline it to make her condition less....terminal? Maybe the after effects of being possessed by the aether left her somehow damaged? Some kind of motor neuron disorder, or worse: cognitive neurodegenerative? Maybe Thor caused some accident that wound her up in a wheelchair and *that's* the real reason she dumped him?

I hope they include the cancer storyline. I felt it was a really powerful aspect of that story.

According to his Marvel Comics Database page, he was part of the Avengers Unity Division, a team made up of Avengers and X-Men that was put together after AvX as way to bring everyone together.

If I recall correctly, this was at a time when several Marvel characters, including Sabertooth, had their alignments shift after the Original Sin event. For a time, several good characters became bad and several bad characters became good. Dogs and cats lived together. Total chaos.

You know, I feel obligated to point out that dogs and cats often live together just fine. My cousins in DC have a dog and two cats. It's not the end of the world. ;)
