Yeah, Avengers 4, a galactic war between the Avengers and the Guardians against Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet... there's no way you can get any bigger than that. They might as well reboot the continuity with cheaper actors at that point.

Actually I'm wondering if after Infinity War they might start massive scale recasting.

Also I find Infinity War more likely than Age of Ultron or Civil War to kill off the major characters since its screams epic grand finale to their at that point 11 years storyline.

There's already been a lot of speculation that one of the Big Three will be killed off / replaced / recast in the next batch of movies. Steve Rodgers dies at the end of the comic book Civil War after all. And Thor's movie is called Ragnarok.

Also RDJ's contract will be ending soon...

I can't imagine all three will not be showing up in Infinity War. That just wouldn't make sense, when the finish line of the whole thing is so close...

All three will be there and then after going up against Thanos--either death (but, who would think that's permanent) or recasting, which everyone would believe is permanent.

But, again, after Thanos, what do you possibly built towards that's bigger than fighting a god?

Maybe they hope they'll have Galactus back by then. Still. All you need is a little Ultimate Nullifier.

Shame we won't see Silver Surfer getting a chance lay in to Thanos. Because FOX owns the rights. I think Fox has the rights to Mogo the Living Planet as well. Grrrr

I don't know about movies, but I hope their Netflix series are successful because I think that model would be a terrific way to get some more of their lower-tier characters on the screen. I can see a new Punisher series doing really well on Netflix, and I also wouldn't mind seeing a new take on Blade and a more faithful adaptation of the Nightstalkers--and with a Doctor Strange movie in development, he could be around to bring the Nightstalkers together, just like in the comics.

This long-term planning is why I don't see them recasting in anything outside a Terrence Howard situation. We're quickly approaching their stables being so full that getting rid of a few of the phase 1 heroes for a while is almost necessary, and when the next generation's turn comes to be retired in turn, they can have new characters take up the old heroes' names as necessary once the roster starts to run dry.

I think that it would be wise to just let the franchise rest for a while at some point.

Maybe after Infinity War they could put the MCU on the back burner.

They could still keep some series running or have semi-standalone movies to wrap up storylines for individual characters, but stop making the Avengers-team up movies.

It's quite possible for them to shelve some of the main characters for a while without actively killing them off or needing to directly replace them. The way they're using RDJ in Cap 3 is a good example of how these characters can now more or less seamlessly move between titles without needing to headline their own movie.

I can see the original Avengers moving into the background, being reserved for the big event films and the odd cameo while a new stable of characters takes the forefront. I wouldn't be surprised if they kill off Cap at some point though. Evans hasn't been shy about his desire to transition away from acting and to a behind the camera role.

Plus, they can keep making Avengers with a whole new team of Avengers, there are about 80 Avengers in the comics.

I'd like to see Black Knight, Vision, Wonder Man, Wasp, and maybe even Mantis, especially during the Infinity war, she was one of those cosmic characters.

I Definitely think Wonder Man should show up.

And after the Ant Man movie, maybe we can get a Goliath/Giant Man, whether it's one of the existing characters, like Hawkeye, or a new person.

Who owns Alpha Flight, Sony with X-men?

^you mean 20th Century Fox. And yeah they probably own the rights to Alpha Flight too.

Sorry, yes, Sony is Spidey, fox is Xmen, that should be easy to remember but I didn't.

Oh, and I remember the other Avenger I wanted to see, She-Hulk!

It may be awhile before She-Hulk gets on the big screen but it would be neat if she appeared on Agents of Shield, along with Howard the Duck.

Though TV properties don't have to follow movie rights, Agents of Shield is based on the MCU. I doubt we'll ever see Spidey or the X-Men hanging out with Coulson.
