Marvel studios/Disney will ride this horse until it is truly dead (and then maybe some more) and it's anyone's guess when that will happen if at all.

For me it's a small miracle that they have not produced a true dud.. sure, some movies made more money than others but in general they are well liked which is a small miracle in my opinion.

The reason for this is that they have followed two simple rules for every movie:

1. It is produced by people who understand and love the characters.

2. It is produced by people who are able to translate super-heroes into a story non-comic book readers can appreciate while still being true to point 1.

For me, it is a small miracle that no studio has realized this formula before. We all knew it.

As for the longevity, the closest parallel I can think of in movies is the James Bond franchise which has been in existence fifty years and going.

Another point is that Marvel Studios keeps their hands out of the creative process once they've assembled the team they want and think works best for the movie.

This was my main fear with Avengers once i heard Joss Whedon was hired. I knew that Whedon could deliver an amazing script because i knew his (lower budgeted but still brilliant) TV work but i didn't trust the studio bosses enough to believe they'd keep their fingers out of their most important movie to date but apparently they did.

Many movies had good ingredients and the right team but then studious started to meddle.. Sam Raimi's Spiderman 3 or the new Hobbit movies for example (though i think Jackson's ego may be to blame there too).

I can see only small hickups with this approach.. Terence Howard's dismissal after Iron Man or the current Ant Man problems but at least for Iron Man it worked out when they got Don Cheadle who's an awesome actor. How it turns out with Ant Man remains to be seen (though i really like Paul Rudd).

I was also thinking about James Bond and their 50 year history.. sure there were some duds along the way and the less said about the Brosnan Bond's the better (though i still like Pierce Brosnan whom i still consider to be a perfect casting choice for Bond) but then we got Craig's Bond movies which were made by a team that understood the character, understood the mythology and above all understood modern cinema audiences and created absolutely awesome movies that i consider to be the best Bond movies (closely followed by Sean Connery of course).
It's a good example to see how a franchise can reinvent itself and return to glory after a few stumbles if you have the right people and so far Marvel has made very good decisions in that regard.

Where have you heard that Marvel keeps their hands out of the creative process. I think the evidence (Iron Man 2, Ant-Man) suggests otherwise. Given other fights with directors (Thor 2), there might be more.

Generally, however, the people in charge of the creative people tend to be on the same page with those they hire. That's what was said with TWS. It's probably why they didn't interfere with Avengers. In fact, for GOTG, the interference was to give the director more freedom that he wanted to have himself.

What will become of The Mandarin, Abomination and The Leader? Does MCU actually have plans for them in the present line up or have they faded in to obscurity?

I agree that Samuel Sterns/The Leader is the biggest dangling plot-thread in the MCU.
According to the official tie-in comic Avengers: Fury's Big Week, Black Widow disabled and captured Sterns. Though with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s fall, MCU producers can do anything they want, I guess.

He was seen in a picture in Agents of SHIELD as someone in the Fridge, iirc. He would probably be out now, though.

Angela started as a villain in Spawn at Image Comics. She's a warrior Angel assassin. But since she was created by Neil Gaiman, he won the rights for her and sold her to Marvel. Now, she's Thor's long lost sister who was raised by other dimensional angels in "Heven". She's currently with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

It's too long to check out now, but I will listen to it later whilst doing other things.
