Yeah, featuring a 2nd string or supporting character like Sub- Mariner seems more likely than the FF or Spidey. It would still serve to link the two franchises together, and be easier to arrange.

Take away the lawyers and the posturing and it shouldn't be that hard. Either a payment or percentage, or better still a trade : you can use Flying Guy and Fish Girl in two movies, we'll feature Visible Man and Kid Amoeba in two of ours in return.

Agree to the castings so both companies use the same actors, ensure the plots don't tread on each others toes and you're done.

But why would Marvel Studios pay to use 2nd string characters, when they won't make add much to how much Captain America 3 makes? It is better to make a little less, than have to pay any other studio anything.

Spider-man can keep being in his bad movies, having zero impact on the MCU.

Which is why a trade might be the best option. Both parties could get to use a character that adds to their franchise without losing any money.

Also, some of the people making these movies are also comic fans and would probably just like to do it. It's an easier sell to the suits if it doesn't cost anything...

I don't really see Namor fitting into the 3rd Cap movie. But I'm trying to think of a a Spidey, FF or X-Men supporting character that Cap has featured before with some importance. Nothing coming to me yet!

Didn't Wolverine fight with Cap in WWII?

While having Wolverine there might have been "fun" in the first Cap movie, realistically it would have taken attention away from Captain America himself. That would have been the last thing Marvel Studios would have wanted.;)

The original Human Torch might be another possibility...while he's a separate character continuity-wise, the name and likeness (while flamed on) are probably tied in with the FF rights. They would have gotten away with the cameo in the first film because they used neither.

True, but a flashback to a shared mission in WWII would be a hell of a boost in Cap III !

While I could see that, I just don't think the MCU is set up for HAMMER right now.

The MCU can't touch this!

So how much of Agents of Shield will be discussed in the MCU movies? There is tons of Hydra left about as we saw in the first episode this season. Will Tony (or Hill) uncover this (as well as the super-powered being released from the fridge and already in Hydra's custody)? It would be neat to see at least Talbot in Avengers:AoU.

I wouldn't expect too much cross-over from the TV shows to the movies. For the time being, I'd be surprised if there's anything more substantial that a name drop or a cameo in Avengers 2, if that.

I think they've settled on a nice balance of cross-continuity being there when it serves the story, but not to overuse it so it seems forced.
