So FandomWire is reporting that Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield are signed onto the 3rd MCU/Sony Spiderman movie and they will team up in a showdown against other spiderman villains including Jamie Foxx's Electro from Amazing Spiderman 2 (not a new take).

Sounds too good to be true. I haven't seen other sites reporting this yet but certainly a possibility given that Strange and Electro are in it. This is their answer to the multi Batman Flash film and a way to tie all the Spiderman properties together for Sony. Is it too much too soon? This way we might see Venom crop up too.

I think into the SpiderVerse owed a definite interest in this... now all they need is Miles and they are good to go!

I still say Multiverse of Madness is the theme for not just Dr. STRANGE 2 but Phase 4 apparently

FandomWire posted their Garfield/Maguire thing two days ago, which is more than enough time for other outlets to have picked it up if it had any validity, so I'm calling "clickbait BS" on it.

They even initially planned a cameo scene with Maguire, Garfield, and Holland but they ultimately nixed the idea, fearing it would be too much. A shame, but hopefully it'll happen in the sequel regardless of what happens in the third Holland film.

Yeah, I've been thinking the same since it was revealed that Multiverse of Madness is directly tied with WandaVision. I'm taking the FandomWire report with a huge helping of salt, but it does make sense with the definite news of Jamie Foxx's Electro.

Not just WandaVision, but Loki too. So out of 8 shows, 2 of them are tied to Multiverse of Madness, and so far at least one other movie is connected to it. It definitely seems like the multiverse madness is going to go beyond just Multiverse of Madness.

Is Runaways and Cloak & Dagger considered part of the MCU? I saw a reference to it being part of it, but I'm watching Season 2 and there haven't been any MCU connections, and I don't remember there being any in Season 1 yet. I haven't watched Cloak & Dagger yet, so I can't say either way with that one.

There are connections but they aren't in your face

Yes, they are. As I recall, C&D made several references to Luke Cage, and the Roxxon Corporation plays a sizeable role, with allusions to some of its previous appearances in Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter. Cloak's power is implicitly linked to the Darkforce that was featured in Agent Carter.

I've only seen the first episode of Runaways, but didn't C&D make a guest appearance in one of its later episodes?

In as much as any of the TV shows are, yeah. C&D's main connection is the presence of Roxxon, which has been a background MCU staple since forever. Runaways on the other hand doesn't have all that much in the way of direct connections. Indeed they have even less than the do in the comics since a certain shape-shifting character that in the show is just some random made-up alien species, in the comics was a Skrull. The main connection thus far has been Tina starting to use the same eye make-up as Kaecilius...

Of course it's ever so slightly complicated by the fact the Doctor Strange movie decided to put in a (munch younger) Staff of One wielding Tina Minoru among the acolytes, but that's what happens when TV and movie divisions stop cooperating.

All that said, what real connections did the netflix shows have aside from come old newspapers and the odd mention of "the incident" or whatever euphemism they used for "giant leviathan spewing wormhole appearing right over midtown"?

She wasn't stated to be Tina Minoru in the movie, though.

Well, they did use the Chitauri tech and Justin Hammer to create the Judas Bullets in Luke Cage, Kingpin only came to power because of the alien attack, and The Raft was mentioned in Jessica Jones as a place where Supercriminals are locked up.

The thing about keeping all the Netflix stuff so "grounded" was that nothing that happened in those shows affected the Movies. So there's no real clashing.

OK, that was about what I expected.

That one you can kind of get around since she was never actually named in the movie. I remember when this first came up, when she was named in one of the MCU comics. Was she named in the script too or was that just from the comic?

I have to admit, after a while, I started thinking of the Netflix shows as their own thing separate from the movies.

Yeah, it is weird that took her so long to address it. This is the kind of thing you think she or her people would jump on quickly before it spread as far as it did.
